What's the deal with Krugerrands?

I know they're super low premium and supposedly everywhere but all I see is dealers buying them quite under spot compared to Brits, Sovs, Eagles, Maples etc and don't see the 1oz ones shift quickly in here? Maybe I've answered my question.

I guess you have to account premium in and premium out spread for each type of coin (if you are that fiscally anal) when calculating 'premium' from spot which makes Krugs (and others) an extra 1% when buying. Of course, views will be different depending on strategies.

Don't say that! I just put one up for sale. 🙂  I have a few, gold and silver, and like them but prefer libertads just cause I like the design.

Oops.! Libertads are another one that flies under the radar. I guess they were so mass produced also. I'll shut up now ;)

Ha ha ha! I don't buy too many as investment bullion, but many mints seem to be going for the collector market - Eagles with reverse or enhanced proofs, maples with half a dozen designs, anniversary sovereigns - on & on. Designer coins!

These look like Atkinsons buy prices...

😙 yep rich they do but when, volatility at the moment is like it is best for any newbie to understand the old Johnny Cash song The gambler that has a very pertinent verse goes something like

"You got to know when to hold 'em; know when to fold 'em.
"Know when to walk away; know when to run.
"You don't ever count your money while you're sittin' at the table.
"There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin' is done."

Those are the prices they offer to buy from the public at. But the prices they buy from the mints at or from other dealers at, are likely are higher, with a lower resale margin.
