Perth Mint is pushing  (once again) our limit on what constitute a coin.

"Eye-catching silver coloured coin is the first Australian coin shaped like a surfboard, featuring:

Comprises two troy ounces of 99.99% silver.

Struck to Brilliant Uncirculated standard.

Measures a gigantic 91mm x 23.50mm.

Limited edition set at a mere 2,500 coins.

Housed in a clear acrylic display case.

Includes a numbered Certificate of Authenticity."

The Perth Mint was a branch was the Royal Mint and produced beautiful sovereigns from 1899 to 1931. Those were the days!

I wish they could start producing sovereigns with the P mint mark again.

As an Australian I find that offensive, the Perth mint should of at least had the decency to give people a trigger warning before announcing yet alone showing an image of his hideous release.

That is extremely Australian

How so? Surfing doesn't originate from Australia, it's origins are Polynesian, later to be refined by Hawaiins, that's like saying NFL - or sissy ball as I call it, seriously if you want to compare the ''sport'' to a war, leave the injured on the field and play over them, and if you want to call it a sport how about letting the players actually play more than the referee dances about and blows out tunes on his whistle, is a British sport.
