How do i Trade and get email notifications

i have joined. cant seem to trade as it says i cannot. I cannot find out the rules why. Can some please point me in the right direction on how to trade and get email notifications. thanks

You need to be a participating member to start trades, which means you need a certain number of posts prior to trading (the exact number escapes me). This is to prevent people just signing up to trade & sell without contributing to the forum by way of discussion.

Email notifications - these should now be fully operation, they were not working for a while. If you receive a reply on a subscribed thread, or receive a PM, you should get an email.

Check your settings, if they are correct and it still doesn't work then please PM Chrissilver.

THANK YOU. What do you mean by post. Is this a post. therefore on this thread there are 2 posts done by me. Posts where on anything? Does my hello post on the welcome members page also count? Or does it only count on trade posts where you only buy first 

 

All i need is the page that explains all this. There is nothing on the rules to this site that is specific. Who decides when you are ready to trade. I need someone to point me where the rules on all this are. 

 

Also email notifications are not being received and from what i have read, has been a problem for 2 months with the moderator not having a clue on what to do about it. I am actually with the silverstackers forum normally and thought i would join this . I feel as if i have a lot to contribute discussion wise on this site. I need some help with this help to move on.

Yes, everything you write is a post, this is a post for me. They can be anywhere on the forum to count to your total, not just in the trading section.

I believe it's only 10 posts required, so you are probably pretty much there now. Your hello posts count also.

I'll have a chat with the Site Administrator about making the rules clear, if it isn't so already.

Be clear on notifications, what are you wanting to be notified of? New posts to your threads, new posts to subscribed threads, new messages?

There have been issued with notification emails in the past, but I assumed this was sorted (I'm receiving new PM emails) hence my assumption.

Any old cowboy could sign up here today and say "Hey guys selling full sovereigns, mixed dates, £150 delivered each"

 

Take peoples money and run..

 

Doesn't make sense to let people sign up and start trading straight away. 

 

I don't know what the rules are currently, but I hope they're strict

For the record, I get email notifications when anyone send me a PM (private message), And I have been getting these notifications ever since i joined.

thank you DB. I have been to the notifications sections and pretty much ticked everything I could. Ive still not had any notifications, not even the ones above since my last post. i thought anyone posting to a thread i started, i would get a notification.

Check your Spam box - they often go in there.

Hi,

I had replied to this thread, but seems like my message was lost as I tried to send without an Internet connection. Apologies for not re-replying sooner.

There is a minimum amount of posts required to post in the trade section, this is to stop people from signing up and just spamming that section. I don't want to say openly how many the requirment is, but you are very close so don't worry

In regards to email notifications. This should automatically be on, please check your spam folder and add the email to your whitelist/safe list. You can also check if it is turned on and edit your notification settings by:

Click your name with the drop down arrow on the top right of the page

Then click 'my settings'

Then click 'notification options' from the column on the left

Next to 'notification method to use for replies to followed topics' tick the tick box next to email

You can also change your other notification settings here
