Sorry All...still can't get links to work.

Interesting article in Telegraph Finance showing Gold orders around the UK on a map. Would never use that company if that is how they value customer's privacy.

Currently stacking 1/4 oz (22ct) and Sovs.

That's highly irresponsible. I have never like Bullion By Post, and the fact they would ever publish this sort of data lowers them even further in my estimation.

Look out for a spate of burglaries in Hertfordshire...

I'm not impressed by that either & I have bought from them on 4 occasions in the past. I don't live in Hertfordshire though.

The problem with common sense is, its not that common.

The gold buying secrets of the UK come as it was recently revealed th number of 12.5kg gold bars being bought by wealthy customers has increased 243pc so far this year, when compared to the same period last year.

And prices still fall.

It is so unreal.

Yes I was think that also they should have at least asked permission to use you in their data before publishing it.

Anybody care to hazard a guess on the percentage of these people who keep their bullion at home. I have a figure in mind.

Stacker since 2013

I must admit my number was a lot lower than that, considering the 12.5kg bars mentioned. I can't see people stashing them under the bed.

I was thinking more like 25%, which is still horrendous.

Actually - I don't think that this article puts any stackers in any danger. No one knows who is stacking. You next door neighbour might have a million quid under the bed. You just don't know.

Makes me realise they keep records of every purchase, if I owned some of those big bars I wouldn't be happy at all, maybe their records could be hacked and the owners become targets.

Posted

That would be true for all electronic purchases, If hacking of these account were to be common place then who knows where it could all end? Trust in the idea of trust and a return to a FIAT!

As long as you keep your PMs off site and safe they can't be stolen from your home. The problem is that so many banks have stopped offering safety deposit boxes. There is a wide open market to be tapped into there, if anyone with some money to invest and a head for business feels like getting in to it?! ;)

There are private vaults. I won't post a link to the one I know of that's been there for 100 years in case they appear here and start advertising like that coin insurance company did.

I have never bought from bullion by post and never will now.  A big part of buying bullion is having trust in the company you buy from, I know the Gov make the companies keep a register on customers, but this is treating the customers the same as if they have bought the weeks groceries.  How can anyone have confidence in a bullion dealer that uses the data collected in self promotion, giving thieves a target area to burgle someones property. Even if the PM's are not on site the cost of a break in is substantial

Yep that is exactly why they would of done it

But it's bad advertising because it makes them untrustworthy with your data

Tomorrow morning, 9am.  Up goes a full sov on their site for £180.  Do you pull the trigger?

nice thought but really there is no chance of them being anyway near the cheapest just not going to happen, they have to pay for all them fancy ads some how.

and just to compare the price's right now (cheapest sov delivered):

Bullion by post  -  £198

Atkinson's         -  £193.59

Hatton Garden  - £194.81
