Atkinsons have a habit of just replicating a "new" listing without making the appropriate changes to the description for preowned.  When I buy preowned from them I never expect items to be mint sealed but on occasions where they are, it's a bonus.

You could always contact them and see what they say.  The listing should not state it's sealed in a wallet (Mint pouch)

Just to update you on this, I spoke to Atkinsons and they offered to give me a refund with free return or £10 off the price.  They said it was their mistake and they would update the web site.  I assume that all they need to say is that pre-owned may or may not be in OMP.   They could not have been any more helpfull, I decided to keep the coin.

I like the coin, but as you say it should be as advertised, but is assume they will just say all coins are sold as bullion unless sold as a proof

Was the Panda supposed to be new or pre-owned?

It was advertised as pre-owned and states " Each coin is supplied sealed in a plastic wallet " - it was in a zip lock bag and "It is possible to distinguish which mint each coin has been minted at. If you look closely at the edge of the plastic seal, the name of the manufacturing mint is inscribed into the plastic. " - obviously I cant get the mint from a zip lock bag lol

It was £293, cheaper that the "New" 8g panda's but still a bit miss advertised I think

It looks to be fairly rare with 700 survivors. Very few in great condition. Despite this price is not very high. I never understand that. 700 survivors across all graded.

Many thanks for this, I paid £458 for it when spot was £846, so it worked out at about 12% over spot.

Happy with it Daz? Was it bought "unseen" from Atkinsons? If you now have a taste for pre-33 US gold check out the Indian Head designs from 1908 -1916.

Yes really happy with it, it was unseen, the only downside was that I assumed that it was a Philadelphia mint as there was no mention of a mint mark.  I looked up the mintages and there where only 165,420 minted.  However when it arrived it is a San Francisco mint with 457,000 minted.  Still, its a nice weighty coin, does anyone know what grade it is ? I am a noob at the numismatic stuff :)

I have looked at some of the indian heads, though I was slightly put off by the fact that there seem to be a lot of fakes around.
