My 3-coin 2017 sov set came today from @arshimo2012 many thanks. I don't think the coins are totally perfect, they seem to put more effort into the box, which is very nice . The box manufacturer/team should send some of their guys to package the coins.
Also a few 1/10 2017 elephants, 1995 proof IOM angel 1/20
Then a half sov 1843 weight, I had few glasses of wine and not sure really why i bought it, it's just interesting

These arrived today from gs.be.
Very expensive for what they are but you don't see them very often so had to get them for my collection.
Really like the Matt finish and a lot more detail than I was expecting. ?

I saw this but the price made my eyes water, clearly i don't watch the market enough if that was a good buy!

Atkinsons have them in, just ordered 2

Splashed out last week so we can call it an early Xmas/Birthday pressie to myself.
1 oz 2010 and 2011 Somali Elephants.  Mintage is supposed to be 1850.  Paid a hefty premium.
1 oz 1981 Libertad.  Different design to the modern coin so wanted this variant for the collection.
Some 1/10ths.  2017 Somali Elephant, 2007 Isle Man Cats, Apmex round.

Picked up this 1/4 sovereign, does anyone know where its from?  I thought a tristan da cunha as this portrait of the queen looks like theirs but i can't find a reference to it
edit: Just noticed the TDC on the obverse . Would still be interested if someone could find a mintage figure for me!

Picked up this 1/4 sovereign, does anyone know where its from?  I thought a tristan da cunha as this portrait of the queen looks like theirs but i can't find a reference to it
edit: Just noticed the TDC on the obverse . Would still be interested if someone could find a mintage figure for me!

Nice half, aEF IMO. There are several versions of the 1887 and the literature isn't too helpful. Marsh describes them all but doesn't give an indication of rarity or value. Spink gives prices but not for all variations.
Yours is the normal sized JEB with loop of J missing and a high shield, probably one of the most common types. Note the JEB letters not in line, occurs with this type. Also the colon after DEF is slightly slanting inwards, this only occurs in the 1887 but the rarity of different combinations is unclear.
The ones with small JEB are probably the rarest, two types; letters together and spread.
