I'd suppose people are noticing the rise and holding on to see when it goes horizontal again, which causes the rise to continue, so more people notice and hold on etc.

Because no one had any more silver, they all sold it and bought sovereigns. The ones who have silver, have it, but in small amounts.

I always wondered if these were simply higher because of all the import export restrictions placed on private individuals by the Chinese government.  There's a lot of gold smuggling all across Asia, much of it seemingly due to restrictions on ownership and taxes for import export, rather than just standard criminal activity.
As an individual, it seems hard to take advantage of the arbitrage in physical between west and east.  One cannot take delivery of a few kg of gold in the west, and then travel to China and sell it.  They'll have it off you at the border, because it's not permitted.  As a result, I've always been a little bit sceptical over some of the claims made regarding the premiums in Shanghai.  Protected markets tend to have skewed prices.  I think both the east and the west have corrupted markets, just in different ways.  Happy to have it explained to me what's really going on, if someone has a solid read to recommend on the process.

I have £21.66 as the high for that period. Certainly nothing consistently above £22 like today.

Whoa - hold your horses MBTPS - It's gotta breach the August 2020 high of £22.72 before that claim can be made!

As above, thought I had one, but I don't - turns out I don't have the full set after all, and that quite frankly will not do. So if anyone has a nice clean one for sale give me a shout.
    TIA.

I don't want to be a party pooper or trample on anyone else's parade etc., nonetheless, I think those of you who are thinking the moon rocket has taken off are being a tad premature. Sorry! 😉
The weekly Heikin Ashi chart below shows the channel (in yellow) in which price has been bouncing around for the past three years. The blue arrows show price having visited the top of the channel, i.e. where it now is (give or take a little), no less than six times since the tail end of 2020. The point being, there's nothing that price is doing now that it hasn't done many times before. Given what gold has done in the past month, one could make the case that silver should have done considerably better than it has and that if gold pulls back from its highs (very likely), silver could easily waterfall back down towards the bottom of the channel.
So, from a technical analysis perspective, before I get too excited, here's what I want to see price doing . . .
    A. A clear breach of the top of the channel at £21.00. This doesn't mean sticking it's nose above and immediately pulling back inside the channel, it means spending at least one week above it. Ideally, it would push up to the August 2020 high indicated by the teal coloured line.
    B. Then I want to see price pull back to the top of the channel and for that to act as support. Price can stick its nose below £21.00 - but I don't want to see a weekly close below that level.
    C. Having established £21.00 as support, price then pushes up and repeats this process at the August 2020 highs (teal line). If/when price establishes this as support (it's currently resistance), then I'll get excited about it 'going to da moon'.
To summarise, the current price level of circa £21.00 and the August high indicated by the teal coloured line are currently both resistance levels. Both of these need to be turned into support levels before there's any real prospect of price moving substantially higher. (NB: this all assumes 'normal' market conditions. If NATO wades into the Russia / U.S. conflict or Iran wades into the Israel / Hamas conflict, at which point nuclear war becomes a very real possibility - then all bets are off and the above goes out the window. But, under those circumstances, so does everything else. 😞 )
Unless and until the above happens, it's more or less business as usual, IMO. In fact, price was at the same level (as it is now) this time last year (spring 2023) and ditto for the year before that (spring 2022). Needless to say, just my £0.02p worth!

    Unlikely.
It's near the top of the channel it's been in for the last three years. Unless and until price breaks out of said channel, i.e. above £22.00 - it's just business as usual - nothing to see here, IMO.

That's a good point. I was thinking about this the other day too; the pension, minimum wages, utility prices etc. Inflation is far from over and I wonder if we will have a 70s style second hike; dwarfing the first round, perhaps eventually leading to liquidity crisis and PMs to slump (short term). Buying opportunity! OR, PMs keep rocketing thanks to the inflation!
Although political parties care only about their term (not the long term) so they will probably drop rates to get votes. Only time will tell. Fiat has never been more of a dirty word.

Agreed but I think the timing of the moves is going to surprise a few people including me. They've already surprised most of us by not cutting rates already, right? There are 2 Fed Board members who recently said there would be zero cuts this year. Our mates at the BoE are giving similar warnings and saying even rate hikes are not completely off the table. So when are they cutting?
Most of us believe there will be 2 more cuts before the US election which will be mirrored by the UK and EU, but nothing is guaranteed. Inflation is still a thing. Look what a bunch of sectors are doing tomorrow or on the 8th April with hiking prices of postage, broadband, TV and phones, that's not going to reduce inflation, is it? A lot of companies are hiking by 8.8% standard, with RM taking the utter piss on some of their SD prices. The minimum wage is going up in April, pension pay outs are up 10%, benefits are going up too. That doesn't look to me like the environment for bringing down inflation in the UK and cutting rates
The BoE was warning about market froth (overpriced assets like the Magnificent 7 and b1tchcoin) and suggesting a market correction may be on the horizon. We have the CEOs and richest people in the world cashing out huge chunks of their shares. The last two times they collectively cashed out it was followed by a substantial market correction
sorry tl;dr silver is chronically undervalued and will continue to go up but there may be a few unexpected setbacks

To be honest I dunno. I am not at home either but just to be safe I am looking for all. I can live with having a duplicate in case they tarnish or develop spots to have a spare.😃
I try to have at least 2 of all sets/coins that I collect and like.
