  1. Spyder

    Which gold

In that case, buy two half sovereigns from different members and you would have two packages to open
  2. Having read a little about this, these are test coins that are handed around so they get scratched and sometimes even dropped so will never be perfect
  3. Having looked at the video and read the listing, I can not see much wrong here. A little annoying for those who wanted to bid. Negotiations were already in the process prior to the auction. OP decided to list as an auction as he already had minimum price that had been offered, too many PM telling him he was doing it wrong so decided to end the auction. Yes a bid went in, but he did end it quite quickly. It would have been another story had the auction run for a few hours and many bids, but it did not. Like been said, it was previous listed as BIN price. All other members had the chance to buy it then or try and negotiate a deal. At the end of the day nothing is legally binding and a seller chooses who to sell to. I remember an auction that went to the end and was pulled as price seller wanted was not reached. It leaves a bad taste but everyone moves on and another deal is just around the corner.
  4. It still seems cheaper to just buy off the forum, unless you are after those particular rounds
  5. Have you a rough guess how much you are looking to pay for a gold Standard. I know that I have one, but would have to go pick up near Eastbourne
  6. Definitely, looks in good condition, hair and broach can be seen.
  7. From memory, HGM still adds 20% VAT even on 2nd hand silver
  8. That would have to stay as a set and a specialist auction house might be the best bet
  9. From Hatton Garden, it is only another 10-15 minute walk towards Charring X and few dealers near there. Look at this site and write down the addresses of where you might want to visit https://coinhunter.co.uk/coin-dealers/?loc=london
  10. What do members make of this coin. I have recently noticed a few Half Sovereign fakes with the Sydney mint mark in uncirculated condition. This one is on eBay at the moment for a crazy high price of £470. Apart from strange lines on the coin and looks like a die gouge near the B.P, what really stands out is that you can almost see a date above the horse head that looks like 187 and another number that is not clear.
  11. The link goes to the US site rather then the UK.
  12. They have definitely gone downhill bigtime. I payed for coins last year and I instructed that I would do pick up when next in London. Six weeks later went to pick up and they could not find my order. Only when I showed them the payment from my phone app showing payment did they release the coins. A month after that I get a phone call telling that I have still not payed for sovereigns order that I had now already picked up. By now the price had risen and I told them, If you want me to pay for said coins I would and pick up the next day. I also told them had I not paid, how come I was allowed to take away the coins. Will now only buy from them if I am in London and can pick up the same day while paying on the premises. They have become shambles. It seems the wrong people have been given top position who have no clue.
  13. Crikey, he was faster then a fly on freshly layed turd. Well done @andrewse
  14. Will you send the 89 for conservation and grading or not bother?
  15. Do you know something we don't?
  16. Happy Birthday from a cold Hastings morning £135
  17. Some update. Emailed the dealer and they have now taking down the listing. They will get the coin XRF tested and more likely sell for scrap gold.
  18. Thought I would have a look at the site today. I think they have priced themselves out of the market. Most of last summer the cheapest place to buy Gillicks sovereigns at under £10 over spot and now £461, £25 over.
  19. Yes, James gave up trying to make caviar from anchovies. Steffan made it sound so easy😂
  20. I think if you can buy a sovereign every week for the next 25 years, I would say you are already doing pretty well now, so your future should be fine. Regarding silver in physical form, I hold less than 100oz and I be surprised if I would double that amount within 5 years. It is enough just to say I have some.
  21. Hattie Jacques would be chasing Kenneth Williams in Carry On Matron
  22. If you want to do a simple date run, start with Edward as was King for only a short time and the coins very affordable. Another route is to buy the year you were born and do a catch up to the present day. This could be expensive if you are over 50
