I started watching bullion-related videos on Youtube on account of the world being increasingly less predictable, fell down the rabbit hole to BYB's channel, and now I'm here. Initially I was just looking at a Sovereign or two but everything looks so shiny...

That doesn't work in the UK.
The only ways to (legally) avoid VAT on buying silver in the UK, so far as I know are:
1. buy second-hand, or
2. buy "with storage" and never actually take delivery.
