  1. Todays arrival, my first matte with reeded edge
  2. They look nice and minty, GLWS
  3. My gold goes into a safety deposit box, if its a recent purchase it will be in my safe, I do not display any gold at all. For my proofs I keep the boxes in a cupboard and put the coins in their capsules into tubes for storage at the SDB. Silver I do have a display of the more interesting coins/bars/pours I have in a cabinet in my office, but not to a value that would hurt should it get stolen.
  4. Sorry dude lol, not been keeping up with notifications Both A's are barred, feint but I can see them under a loupe. They are both joined at the base as well which is pretty cool
  5. Good spot, a few reasonable coins in that lot Going through them though worth checking the images as they have very much put the best side as the main picture on a couple Delivery is a little woolly, but I am down the road from their Etwall auction rooms so if I bid I can get them transferred and pick up
  6. For reference and feedback only
  7. Just looking through my pickups from the coin fair, nothing super interesting but I did notice the tops missing from the OR on this 1851 And a poorly struck 5 o this 1855
  8. The 1850's and early 1860's are rife with this sort of thing, its a great period for finding mint errors They seem to get fewer for London once they start with die numbers, 1863 onwards.
  9. I cannot tell from the picture if it is short or long tail, here is one of each to compare
  10. Had my topcashback, its the quidco I am receiving today, looks like the referral bonus's are starting to land as well so guessing lots of people will be seeing some cashback today
  11. I was looking up some mintage numbers on the 2019 BU Matte sovereign this morning as the royal mail page for it said it had a maximum mintage of 25000 which seemed super high for a matte https://www.royalmint.com/sovereign/brilliant-uncirculated/the-sovereign-2019-brilliant-uncirculated/ Then when I checked the sales numbers it only totalled 1514 https://www.royalmint.com/discover/uk-coins/mintage-figures/2019-dated-uk-commemorative-coin-sales/ I checked a few other coins from 2017/2018/2019 and there were lots and lots where the mintage number is far lower than the maximum mintage. I am thinking maybe RM are now minting to their maximum mintage and selling 'cheap' to dealers any they do not manage to sell. Basing this on the fact Bullion by Post had the coronations on Black Friday massively discounted and also the amount of dealers, Britannia Coins springs to mind, who have the coins discounted even at pre-release. I wonder how much this is contributing to how badly proof prices on new releases are bombing post release. Obviously RM increasing their selling price margin does not help but, if I am right and they are churning them out to the max mintage and not only minting to demand, can we expect the proof market to stay in the doldrums?
  12. Bullion I think will end up being lower mintage than the Platinum Jubilee coins, but still in high numbers but will hold a premium over standard modern sovereigns. Proofs are bombing, which is the perfect time to buy them. I have a couple of the half's stashed away but I prefer the platinum jubilee design aesthetically so will be unlikely to bother with any more. Will be a while before they come good just because of how cheap they were on Black Friday which put the final nail into the market for them for the time being. If your looking at proofs be prepared to hold them at least a few years, but a great time to pick them up cheap.
  13. Its not unusual, a lot of the dealers there will be asking a premium but if you get there early and ignore all the silver and hammered coins you can get some decent buys in. I tend to go to the dealers I know and who are more realistic in their prices on arrival, then take a more leisurely stroll round to see if there is anything else. I could easily have bought a lot more than I did had I had the funds, there was also quite a lot of shield half sovereigns there today as well with some half decent prices. Next one is 11th Feb but if your closer to London I have to admit that one is a lot better with a lot more stalls, though I have only been to that one a couple of times https://www.coinfairs.co.uk/midland-coin-fair/ https://www.coinfairs.co.uk/london-coin-fair/
  14. Mostly yes, like a village car boot in some stalls
  15. They mostly are but not on every stall. The standard for sovereigns today seemed to be be about £425 but a couple of stalls were more like TSF prices. Was a lot of nice silver today and a fella with couple of 1838 and 1841 shields. I didn’t stay long and can never be bothered to route through the tubs of cheap silver
  16. Been to the Midlands Coin Fair this morning, spent all my money at the first stall I went to, though as usual I looked for @1stsovereign first, which is not tricky seeing as he is always in the same spot Six shields and a cheeky 2010 1/4oz Brit - nice to catch up again Adrian
  17. I don’t think it is a dollar, I think is it an S for Sandhill
  18. Sandhill tubes they are called I think, I have some with the coins still in and the coins are minty
  19. @DrDave welcome back - we missed you 😘 Still using my DrDave patented light tunnel mate. If you still have any left or plan on making any drop me a pm as I know someone who would like one
  20. ooof, many many ££££££££
  21. Bit of Gold and Silver today, 2024 Pamp Dragon from BBP, the two Brits were freebies from referrals. And two 2023 Malta Golden Eagle 5 Euro 1 oz Silver
