Multiple people, out past their bed times here tonight. Reading
on this thread
Go to bed, we need workers not shirkers tomorrow
Tax revenues could benefit from your extra efforts today tomorrow at work not here swapping your fiat for over priced gold
Everything else will of course becoming down now the new min wage has gone up ridiculously higher than most businesses can really afford and totally out of line with general inflation
oooooohhhh and let's not raise the personal tax allowance again for another year dragging more minimum earners into paying
enjoy your big mac meal it'll be £10 now soon enough
£7.50 - £10a pint
Fiver on the bus or train to go one stop
And £50 to get your windows cleaned but the government is pulling everyone out of poverty
FFS let me join this 🚀 to the moon with my gold.
I'm happy to relocate there

A move up in silver means. Global growth economically , a new battery/solar panel that uses a shitload of silver or ….even the plebs getting worried about the state of things

The gold silver ratio could go to 50. It’s highly unlikely to punch 100 again.. mmmmmmm

You’re not wrong. I just hope the tories get no seats, and we see 100+ seats from reform. That’s best case scenario for me. Replace the tories with an actual Conservative Party, watch the world burn for 4 or 8 years. Then hope for a reform government

Sorry, I don’t t know where you got that from but that’s nonsensical. It’s a store of value… has been for thousands of years. It’s what good does. It’s currency.
We may be entering a speculative phase for some. But you can do that with tulip bulbs or seashells. Its lack of utility makes it perfect for currency. It’s relative stability makes it unattractive for speculation vs other unstable assets.

If you are a speculator you don’t buy gold.. you buy gold as a hedge. Investors are seeing the need for a hedge.. not a speculative asset. This alongside currency devaluation and central bank buying is driving gold price not speculation. There’s many more lucrative vehicles for that. Silver and platinum may be seen as speculative, crypto, equities definitely. Gold is different.. hence so many people have hated it for so long.

https://www.inflationtool.com/british-pound/1970-to-present-value?amount=1&year2=2024&frequency=yearly
This is interesting, I had worked out an old £1=240 pennies would have copper worth £15.52 in them.
Now according to this inflation calculator a £1 in 1970 would be worth £15.60.

I wasn't comparing the UK to anyone else - I just don't think it's a fair representation to say that we got money from the EU budget as a net contributor.

Sterling has had a fairly stable year v the dollar.. if the BOE goes first. And it should inflation will crumble soon.. the sell off won’t last long as the improved growth numbers come through.. FX traders are always looking three moves ahead

Id be buying old silver coins at this point not shiny bullion. If things seriously go wonky in the next decade, recognisable coins would be better, or at least something round with a UK head of state on it.

Not seen any on here for ages.. they are a bit like the Rolex of silver bars. its called 'vintage silver' but basically anything made before the 'great melting'.. especially from now defunct smaller manufacturers. lots of small US firms included in that as well ..
