It's a coin "case". Not sure if that makes a difference? In my head, I expect quite a nice box but maybe the reality will be different. -

In fact, I am already writing a strongly worded letter in anticipation! I think everyone who isn't happy needs to be very firm with the Royal Mint. Hopefully if there are enough voices they will be obliged to do the right thing

Exactly this. For me the Mint has an obligation to make sure every one with the quartered arms has an acceptable portrait.

I think the fact people might have trouble getting the set, probably makes this worse than normal. A single coin, its bad enough. But when you have one half, and might not be able to get the second due to quality issues, its a different level. What a **** up

Just rang the RM (not in a fit of jealously honest!) to cancel the military set I accidentally ordered with the celebration sovereign. I asked when can I expect delivery of the gothic portrait, the lady said quite quickly, they are expecting all to be dispatched by the end of the week. Which is good news, provided its not a rush job.
