I really think this has little to do with the Royal Mint. They aren't cartier. You fell for some sales patter and since realised you probably paid over over odds. Send it back if its within the 14 day period and move on with your life. You are giving me a bit of high blood pressure, so I suspect yours isn't going to be doing too well.

The world is awash with people trying to make you buy stuff for more than its worth. A fool and their money... Sure, dealers shouldn't be making it out to be RRP. Can you provide evidence they did that ? The onus is on any consumer, buying from anywhere to know ebay they are buying. I really don't think the RM carries any blame here. They can't control what people do with coins they sell.

You surely must have had an inkling how much a 2oz gold proof coin generally goes for ? If you didn't, then you shouldn't have been running head long into something you knew nothing about.

Sorry Barry. You type a lot of words, it's sometimes hard to get to the salient points. So you paid for a coin, on what you thought was the primary market, for secondary market prices ? If it was RRP would you be as concerned?

There seem to be quite a few people looking for a 2oz silver portrait. Presumably as there is more of them, you would expect the demand (prices) to be the other way around ? It might be the portrait is more desirable, but, I would expect most people would want a pair. But, everyone can't have a pair.

Some dealers at least buy, from the secondary market, so clearly can't sell RRP. I guess we don't know where dealers get ALL of the coins they sell from. I am sure some do get an allocation direct from RM.
