  1. And no, that's not an invitation to retake the photos...
  2. Thank goodness your photography is lousy - saves me having to set eyes on it again!
  3. Been ages since I posted in this thread as so rare now that I buy something just for myself. As a maths teacher I couldn't resist this superb nerd trinket. I know Pressburg mint products are not everyone's cup of tea but I think they make a stunning item with some thought provoking and eye catching designs. This time I promise I'm going to keep them and finally start collecting all the designs! Thanks to @entsorfor these beauties.
  4. Wow Mark - great collection. MS70s get hard tot find the further back you go. In terms of your collection - you are missing the standard version of 2009. Should be an easy one to find in MS70 as a common year. 2002 seems to be fetching around the $200 mark in China 2008 looks to be around £100. 1987 is one I don't have in my collection so really interested in that one. Unfortunately only worth £20 in an MS69 grade Only kidding it's somewhere in the £400 to £450 region - hope for @DavePanda to correct me if I'm wrong on this. Interestingly the 5oz being less popular for collectors, much less demand - will be in the £350 to £400 region.
  5. There's been some excellent advice given in this thread. No problem to have a couple of 1oz coins in your stack but I would advise against going all 1oz as they are far more difficult to sell peer to peer. Especially if trying to sell a quantity. Sovereigns are far more liquid and you would not have much difficulty letting go of 20k worth of sovereigns quickly at over spot.

    Gold nuggets?

They look a little odd. Do you have any idea where they came from? There are a few generous dealers with XRF machines who could test them for you which should give a good idea of Authenticity
  7. Wasn't me, @James32 ! I was almost tempted to make a bit but a little out of ammo right now. With eBay's buyer protection I wouldn't be that concerned aboutt bidding.
  8. There were no sovereigns between 69 and 73 inclusive

  10. Congratulations! Wishing you every success. I remember distinctly that last day at my job and going full time into Haven, feeling like I'd just pushed my boat out into open water and clambering in, suddenly thinking that the water beneath me seemed pretty deep and the horizon vast. Scary, but liberating in equal measure. Haven't looked back since though. I love it!
  11. Fantastic price on silver Britannias at sharps pixley https://www.sharpspixley.com/buy-bullion/buy-silver/silver-coins/mixed-silver-britannia Was thinking of proposing a group order but the tiered pricing is too shallow after 5 coins to make it worthwhile. Unless anyone wanted to pay by Paypal? So fill your boots folks, and contact me if you want to take part in a group order.
  12. Who else watched the Coin Cabinet auction today? Some right bargains were had there... 5oz Three Graces for £1100 Some proof James Bond gold coins under spot. Did you spot any others? Bargains or a sign of the state of the market?
  13. I have been offered an 1862 shield sovereign with R over E and not sure what to offer for it? Would this be considered a F grade or could it be VF? Any advice appreciated @dicker @SovereignBishop @LawrenceChard
  14. By that logic aren't I double right?
  15. Lovely - thank you. I was looking at that and hoping it was in that region. Super - that's right about what I paid for it so pretty pleased with that, and yes, market timing not great but it's to hold and cherish so shouldn't matter in the long run. I'm pleased that there's good detail surviving especially on the shield side and it has an eye appeal which is what mattered to me.
  16. I bought this HALF! sovereign today. First item in a mini sovereign collection I'm planning. Could I ask for your opinion on its condition and value please?
  17. Imagine what you could have done in a red one! I would be willing to pay 2% over spot for this at £670 with post included which I feel is a fair offer and better than you'll get from any dealer. It would be just as others have described - you would send first, I would pay you on delivery of the goods and provide you with glowing feedback so as to help you with your next sale. You will see from my feedback record that I have built up a reputation on the forum as a trustworthy and honest chap to deal with. Let me know if this would be of interest
  18. Looking forward to this. Thank you everyone for taking part in this! I'll chuck this in the crucible
  19. Finally, today I received my 2oz proof quartered arms gothic crown. This was my fifth coin from RM after four defective ones! This follows earlier in the week when I got my third portrait coin, perfect third time around! Interestingly, at the same time I received two other coins which were both returns as well and they both came back perfect as well, so maybe they have ramped up their QC in the past couple of weeks? Good things come to those who wait I guess...
