Just got advance notification of this...

What does everyone think?

I personally don't like the second coin in this series and won't be continuing with this. Will probably sell the last ones as well. Disappointed in the design.

These are currently only available today (7th July 2014) if you purchased the precious coin from Royal Mint.

Precious purchasers can purchase up to 10 of these, the normal limit will be 5 per household. I think you need to order 5 for free shipping, unless that code still works.

They will be on sale via the Royal mint website to everyone tomorrow.

Ha. You beat me to it. You were 27seconds quicker. I will merge the topics.

Keithoil also posted a similar thread at the same time.

I'll buy one, I'm interested in history and find the design pleasing to look at. Although not necessarily more than the first release because that design is just a classic.

I am not overwhelmed by the design but I will be having some of these regardless. I expect they will look better "in the flesh" than the renderings suggest. At worst I'm just swapping a paper £20 for a metal one.

I thought £60 qualified for free shipping so three might be enough.

Last year I found that they made good Christmas presents so I'll probably get some and force the date run on my receivers.

Yea, free shipping from £45. So 3 will be enough.

I was all primed to get a few but not sure I'll bother now, would rather put the money into a tube of something

I wouldnt count these in my "stack" so they don't change the average - for me its the difference between a paper £20, and a metal £20 and I treat them separately to any investment metals.

I was expecting it to be this image so im a bit disappointed with the one they chose to go with but still think ill get some but not as many as the 2013 one

Thanks danny, so if it is legal tender does that mean you could pay it direct into your bank account for £20 if you wanted to, i know that would not be something most people would do but i was just curious.

Yes, in principle.

I wonder will Tesco create another media storm when someone goes into a filling station with a handful of these to pay for fuel.

I think the post office would as a legal coin, but would have to check as it's private now.

I read a cashback/points thing where people were buying them on a credit card and cashing them in at the post office
