Hi All,

New to the collecting of silver that I like, although I do have a collection of silver photo frames.

Just purchased, privately a 7kilo box of silver some very old.

These are a pair of goblets, gilded interiors, with a family armorial. RE&EB makers as an example, anyone know the value?

Hi and welcome on forum!

For solid silver goblets in good shape and with clear hallmarks, a minimum should be @25% over spot, going sometimes up to @50% over spot, depending of many factors. Also, tankards @20%-40%, spoons @0%-5%, dishes @0%-25%.

Because yours are matching pair in a good shape a 50% over spot would be a fair price for a private sale.

On auction houses, will sell better, but after deducting the house fees and other expenses, the final price will be under my initial estimation.

Would be interesting to see clear hallmarks. If it is a quatre-foil RE over EB is Rebecca Emes & Edward Barnard, beginning of 19th century.
