PF69 or Proof 5 Oz silver

Recommended Posts

Bit of advise please from the great and good at TSF.

I have a PF69 graded 5 Oz Gothic Crown arriving to go with a few others I have.

Not really into graded coins and this one is PF69 not 70 although states "First Releases".

Cost wise it was no different to a proof and probably a little cheaper.

Tempted to remove it from the plastic case and keep in the box as a proof.

Be interested in the likely long term benefits of either Proof or PF69. If it was a 70 then would leave it in the slab for sure.

Appreciate no one has a crystal ball and who knows where the values of the Great Engravers will go so a more general point really.

Thanks in advance

Chris

I would keep it slabbed at least while you are going to keep it in your possession

Removing it risks damaging as its not an easy task getting the big 5oz'ers out of the slabs.  If you have the box and COA in your possession it will be worth as much if not more than a raw when you come to sell as its generally 'slab only' PF69's that go under raw price, its actually the missing box and COA that lower the value not the fact it is a 69 (compared to raw).  And you never know, one day people may go back top buying the coin and not the grade!

Likely also worth checking the population, PF69's tend to have a reasonable value compared to raw if the PF70 population is not through the roof

Thanks for your thoughts.

Comes with the COA and box so guess there's options going forward. Going to keep it for a while so no mad rush!

It is Quartered Arms or Portrait?

Don't laugh, James!

If it is Portrait, I will make an offer he can't refuse for boxes, capsule and documentation and his dilemma about keeping in slab or not it is solved.😊

Perfect!

For this coin I need the original complete set of boxes, capsule and certificates.😊

Would you sell them, please?

Splits up the complete set with no box and COA....
