Congrats @Krg absolute bargain there

It is a bargain, it’s either the balance staff or the main spring that needs replaced.

If it’s multiple issues scrap the gold and sell the movement.

either way you’re quid in.

Cheers il take it to the watchmaker and see what he thinks. Thanks for the info

Make sure he just gives that dial a gentle clean, that style with the raised crest and markers got dropped as a cost saving exercise; cleaned properly it will truly pop.

You can pick up a complete new movement for about £40 case need, that maybe your cheapest way out, plus there are very fairly priced nice hand made straps on etsy/similar which will save the cost of having any work done to the bent looking lug.

I’d have bid more on that watch if it weren’t for that bent lug that’ll be tricky to sort with compound curves and angles that’s what put me off but it is fixable.

Totally agree and why I made the comment about the dial, the later ones had none of that lovely detail so can be bought for about £300-350 as they're so plain by comparison.

I hope you enjoy your purchase when it's completed, I'm sue you will 👍

🙄 - Oops, well I'm sure the winner will do the right thing for him, personally I like older certain watches, that whole market is still falling, AD's will likely be giving discounts again before year end I suspect  !!

Indeed.

There’s a Birmingham based guy that is even more qualified in repairing/servicing watches and he’s superb at fixing up cases, bezels, straps and clasps etc he’s called Nekkid watchmaker check out his vids as well he’s absolutely brilliant and can be quite funny at times.

His resto on a Jaeger Le Coultre…
