Hi guys, new user here. I’ve been collecting historic coins for a few months and have now gone down the rabbit hole of precious metals. I’ve been doing lots of reading on silver in particular and I’m aware of the nasty taste brexit has left for silver stackers. Due to this, can anyone just shed any light on if this is worrying or if there’s any point at all in stacking silver in the UK? I don’t know it is about silver but it feels like treasure and not just a few digits. If you think silver stacking is still possible in UK could you let me know the best places to go and what I should be looking out for. I’ve tried looking online but it’s a bit all over the place and doesn’t relate to the UKs current situation.

thank you guys

Welcome to the forum :)

You are in the right place to gain some knowledge. If you are looking to buy direct from forum members the "Buy & Sell" tab at the top is the place to be. Specifically the ungraded for the closer to spot deals.

Then if seeking to buy from trusted dealers, the "Silver Deals" thread is constantly updated with what people have found. You will be surprised at what pops up and is sold out in moments after we've all had at it!

Hope this helps!

Hello and welcome.

From dealers at the moment the current price for a Brit is around the £28 to £29 mark with free post (check silver deals thread). On the for sale section, they are going for around £25 plus post, sometimes a little cheaper. If you decide to go and scrap it all you will get spot.... Ish. So is it worth it? Yes, whilst operating in a UK market. Just a opinion tho.

Thanks for the reply, I mean that’s a pretty hefty premium. I’m looking for 50/50 hobby/investing pretty much, so would you say looking at second hand would be the better option as I wouldn’t be paying the VAT amount? Or stick to the new ones?

Not sure what you mean by hefty premium. If you go to a dealer and buy at £29 with free post and you can sell at £25 plus post, then the premium is not that much at all. What are you expecting?
