Australia, Silver and the new trade deal

With the new free trade deal that has been done with our Australian friends.  What is the new law on importing silver coins from Australia?

I have had a look and cannot see anything.  I would think there would be no tariffs at all now and only a flat 20% vat.  I rang customs and got no answer.

Help for all the forum members would be a good idea

My understanding is that it is only an agreement in principal at this stage. Everything is as is for the time being. There has not yet been a parliamentary debate and there still needs to be an impact assessment completed.

Yes - this Government likes to make announcements. In all seriousness with an 80 seat majority and the fact that this may not even be debated in parliament it is as good as done. The key issue is that there needs to be an impact assessment completed first.

Parliament will have the opportunity to scrutinise the agreement in detail once the text is published, along with an impact assessment and explanatory memorandum.

There are / were no trade barriers affecting import from Oz to UK for coins or bars, only VAT where applicable.

What did you expect from HMRC? They are rubbish!

We have been importing from Perth Mint for years.

Of course, HMRC the Royal Mail, and customs agents conspire to make life difficult, but that's about normal, and worse in the last year.
