I have noticed that a lot of people are selling gold and silver 2021 coins from the Royal mint on ebay, for way more than it costs to buy it directly from the mint, and people are buying them? I really don't understand this. Can anyone explain?

I sold a 2021 tube of brits on Ebay not long ago & it went for £750.
Obviously I have fees, but i am sure people buy the ones that go for £900 +.

eBay fees were £26 on £267 when I sold some nail guns last week. With PayPal fees  £7.80. Is there something I’m missing here?

I just would not sell PMs on eBay period. It's not the fees it's the lottery of the audience you are selling to.

I can understand selling things non precious.

I did years a few years ago with pms. Wouldn’t again. Like with non pms. Unless someone comes to pick up it’s hassle and I wouldn’t want anyone picking up pms from a home address.

I don't trust eBay for buying or selling PMs whilst I'm sure the vast majority  are probably alright,  with the sheer  numbers of users of eBay that still leaves literally tens of thousands that could be criminal  rip off scam artists

I usually stick to real shops and places like this ( if they have been on a while and built up a reputation)

To answer your question about people paying way too much on eBay I think Generally  people are brainwashed into  thinking eBay in cheap  and don't necessarily check if they can get an item for a better prove elsewhere .

Sames true with Amazon too ( although not really relevent for PMs)

Agreed if people don't know the market they pay retail price.👍
