closed SPOT PRICE GOLD - 1/4 Gold Proof €50 Coins - Central Bank of Ireland 2016

Melon

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

For sale is eight 1/4 troy oz .999 proof gold coins - so a total of 2 troy ounces. I am selling at spot price (+P&P) in minimum amounts of 4 coins (1 oz).

Pricing, Postage and Photos below, but first some info on the coins:

These are 50 euro coins minted by the Central Bank of Ireland, which is where I bought them from. They were minted to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic. Don't worry if you don't know what that is, there's a little booklet with each coin that explains (😄). Each coin comes in a capsule with a wooden box, individually serialised certificate, and outer box. Further images in the second post will show each coin in it's numbered box. One coin has a chipped capsule (cert #4819), picture in 2nd post. The capsule still seals, so it's purely cosmetic and arrived that way from the mint - no impact to the coin itself. This will be the last coin sold unless anyone specifically requests that cert number.

Pricing

To reduce overhead I'm going to offer this at a compelling price and sell in 1 or 2 lots if possible with a 4 coin (1oz) minimum purchase. Preference for well established forum members with trading track record, given the value.

  • £380 per coin + P&P - 4 coins minimum which is 1oz (up to 8 available)
  • Bank Transfer or PayPal F&F

That is spot price at point of posting this!

I reserve the right to amend the price at any point up until a payment is made. Once you pay it is of course locked in and secure. =

Postage

4-6 coins = £14 for Royal Mail Special Delivery next day, fully insured up to 6 coins.

7-8 coins = £28 as above but split into two boxes.

  • Postage is at buyers cost.
  • UK only. Apologies but I don't want the increased risk of things getting lost in transit.
  • Items will be sent Royal Mail Special Delivery, fully insured the the value of the package.
  • Maximum 6 coins per box due to £2.5k insurance limit.

If you don’t mind transacting with a newbie, I will buy 1oz (payment by bank transfer, posting to U.K.).

Sorry @UncommonSeal

@Melon wanted to sell these with a minimum order of 4 coins. FYI as long as you pay your feedback rating wont really matter as a buyer unless you ask to pay later or something. Its only really taken into account when your the seller.

Thanks and no worries! Was meaning I would buy the 4 to make up 1oz but no harm done!

Will stick around and see what I can learn! :)

You are right, my bad. Sorry I am dyslexic. Then ensure you send a PM to the seller, I guess. Sorry you missed out

Poor show IMO.

@UncommonSeal was first in line and was ignored.

The seller can sell to whoever he chooses but courtesy is free.

Hi everyone, thanks for your warm welcome to the community! :) For the record @jasonpaulwatson is a top guy who has gone above and beyond - and we have come up with something mutually agreeable (even though he was under no obligation to do so).

Thanks again and looking forward to contributing more here!

Think you're being a little harsh. It's quite a lot of money for me and I wrote the below in the first post, it wasn't pitched as first come first served.

"Preference for well established forum members with trading track record, given the value."

UncommonSeal seems like a nice guy and I'm sure he'll fit that criteria in the future if he sticks around. But as it was the guys only ever post, I had no forum track record or trading track record to go on when making the decision. I was deliberately trying to make this simple, safe and straightforward by offering at spot price, so where I would have taken the chance on one coin I wasn't comfortable to take the chance on four.

I should have sent him a message, that was a mistake. I had 5 members who PM'ed me about this listing and I replied to everyone. But I missed this one as it's tough juggling dozens of notifications on a mobile whilst at work, then rushed home to package and post so I could get the new owners their coins posted out today. Had double digit notifications before I even logged in today - a lot more happens in the background on these sales threads than happens on the page as I'm sure you can appreciate. Anyways my mistake, I can see how it appeared rude but it certainly wasn't my intention 😷

On the bright side hopefully the new owners will enjoy their coins and it sounds like @jasonpaulwatson has sorted something out with @UncommonSeal so I'm glad to hear that 👍

Glad to hear you guys have sorted something out.

Apologies if I came off wrong earlier, it wasn't my intention to ignore you. I did make a conscious decision to sell to more established members on this occasion (see my rational above), nothing personal, but I missed out on responding to you in error amongst all the direct messages messages I got on this topic. Hope you stick around on the forum, it's a great place and I've learned loads over my time here 🙂
