Sorry for the rubbish layout. Anyway info copied from Wiki - There apears to be an overall increase in mintages across the range in both proofs and BU.

Does anybody know as to whether the source is reliable? Is there any better info source out there? Of course I'd appreciate re-directing to an existing thread if a relevant one exists. Ta

Are the Libertads always so random between years - half the mintage on 1/4 and 1/2, then double the 5oz and kilo

Agreed on random. But little pattern forming of puking increased numbers of BU across the board but cut fractional proofs and increase 1oz + proofs.

But what does it all mean???

I’m sure this is a popular resource of Libertad, but here it is in any case:

Many thanks for the link...Don's snoozing or waiting for something better than Wiki! He's only got info on Aztecs. They've double in no. from 2017.

I'll go over to Apmex ..sometimes more info on there re nos.

Don passed away recently, very sad but he will be well remembered in the field.

As a related info and not many people are aware of, this year the "Magnificent 7" Silver Proof Libertad presentation set only has 125 in mintage. Yes 125.

Wow.  It would be quite a coup for someone to get their mitts on that set, but there again, owning any set of any year would provide a warm glow.

Yes -Don Bailey sadly passed away recently. But given time, i'm sure his wife or son-in-law will keep Don's site updated. http://news.coinupdate.com/don-bailey-dean-of-mexican-numismatics-has-passed-away/

With the randomness of libertad mintages - the Mint apparently has to strictly keep to Mexican legislation which allows them only to use Mexican mined silver. They cannot import. Ironically, one of the largest silver producing countries and the majority of their mines are either foreign or privately owned and the silver exported, so the mint juggle each year when sourcing their silver.

Sometimes word leaks out that they are having a harder time sourcing. As it did in 2014. A lot of collectors beelined for the 2oz & 5oz proofs as soon as they appeared. Just 500 & 550 singles respectively.
