Sovereign Question

Picked up this 1902 Sov, Perth Mint, the other week for a nice price at my LCS, yet when looking on Ebay they are priced for £340+. Did I stumble across a bargain, or are dealers trying one on?

The last one that sold on eBay in the UK sold for £265 + postage.

Its not rare, but still seem to go way beyond spot. To be fair I have never checked if any of my coins are from different mints. Should do really...

All mine from this era were bought from HGM at spot + 2% over the years so high prices on eBay are not necessarily the best source of valuation just people not doing their homework.

I remember the 1902 florin and half crown being very expensive in good condition not sure why. Perhaps people feel the need to do the same with 1902 sovereigns, price them inline. The eBay effect.

It's because 1902 they made proofs 'matte' that look like bu coins and every Tom dick and Harry thinks he has a proof coin!! They don't!  I have a few 1902 London sovereign but no proofs. eBay coins get sold as maybe proof, i think it's Numi who has a proof, it looks better than all of mine and its got graded as proof.
