I’m a sucker for gold, so I’ve ordered ten. Not sure how long I will resist the urge to open one up. At £54.62 each (plus delivery), it seems worth a punt. Especially as I was going to pay over £57.00 each last week for ten even with the Silver Forum discount code.

I emailed Tavex and got a quick response which is as follows: “As for the spelling mistake, we are aware. I have been informed that it is a security feature. Strange one I know but I don’t think we will be changing it.”

Yeah, except it’s the first ‘g’ which is missing so ‘packaing’ 😅

Has anyone ever noticed that there is a spelling mistake on the reverse of the CertiPack of the Tavex 1g gold bars? The ‘g’ is missing from ‘packaging’. I was also wondering if anyone has ever removed the Tavex 1g gold bar from the plastic card to confirm its weight and gold content? Would like to buy some of these but am hesitant to do so at the moment.

Yes everything else is working fine, just Royal Mint is playing up and only when I attempt to sign in. Hopefully their email customer service department is better than the online chat.

Is anyone experiencing issues when signing in to the Royal Mint website? It's been like this for me since yesterday evening. I can browse the website but when I attempt to log in I get the attached error.

Is the Royal Mint the only place we can buy the 2023 1/10 silver britannias? I'd love to buy a monster box of these, wonder if these are available and how many tubes come in one.

There is another Nectar bonus points offer on ebay on the horizon. I wonder if it will match or even better the 50x offer some of us took advantage of in November. There are some rumours it may be a 70x offer to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. Hopefully it will still apply to coins and bullion.

I'm hoping that a 2022 quintuple sovereign will be released soon. I know there's a proof version but I like to fondle my gold.

Before I start, sorry I cannot attach photos as I've already scurried the gold away somewhere safe, never to be seen again. Actually that's a lie, but I can't be bothered to upload a photo of what everyone has seen before anyway. I just wanted to say that last week I added another ten 2022 full sovereigns to my stack but I had never owned a double sovereign. So at the weekend I purchased a double 2022 sovereign which arrived moments ago. All I can say is it was love at first sight. It amazes me how much bigger and heavier a double sovereign is when compared to a normal full size sovereign. From now on I may think twice about going for piddly little sovereigns as I think I've fallen in love with the double.

I don't know too much about Tavex. Some of their item descriptions are pretty wild, for example their Golden Start 5 investment package mentions "The 112 grams of the purest premium gold can feed and clothe a family for months, no matter the time or location." 🤨 Having said that, I recently chatted with Tavex online and they seem to be on the ball. They even offered me complimentary delivery.

Lots of great comments. I am definitely after a bar and have stopped short of going for a 250g bar so it's going to be a 100g bar. It looks like a minted bar is the more popular choice. Sharps Pixley is who I was thinking of buying the bar from as I have done business with them before and I can get next day delivery unlike other dealers who are quoting longer delivery times. Also, they have the 100g bar in both cast or minted. However, this bar looks tempting.

It may or may not be the right time with what's going on in the world to buy a 100g gold bar, but if I keep trying to time the market I'll probably never get one so I'm going to dive right in now and spend close to £5000. Now all I've got to do is make up my mind about which style of bar to go for. I was just wondering what everyone's opinion on this subject was. Should I go for a poured cast bar or a nice neat looking minted bar? Please don't suggest I put my money into coins e.g. sovereigns as I have plenty of those already.

I've calmed down a bit now I've been given some more information.

I thought Chards had been in this business since 1964. Surely by now you would have thought that they would have built up some kind of relationship with The Royal Mint direct. Why on earth would a British company which has been trading for nearly 60 years need to buy British gold from overseas.

I also appear to be in the same position. I have just received an email from Chards informing me of yet another extension of the delivery time to Chards themselves, not to me. This time I've been told to expect delivery of this item to Chards on the 18th April. I'm probably going to cancel this order as I'm starting to run out of patience. I think I'm within my right to mention that this isn't the first poor experience I've had with Chards. This particular issue may be out of Chards' control, but then again who are we to believe.

Strange, the £675.00 charge for my order which I placed yesterday is no longer pending in my bank account but has now been taken by The Royal Mint, yet still no order shows on my account and no email. I have emailed my contact there so let's see what they say.

I don't even know how it's possible for money to leave your account but no order to be generated. 'Tis a mystery. Oh! So there may be light at the end of the tunnel?
