Ktheepan don't lose any sleep over it mate many of us on here had to endure a£200 drop in gold price in two days a and 50% drop in silver price in 2013 it's a paper loss provided you don't have to sell so don't go all in and don't get taken in by pm pumpers like Chris Diane or mike Maloney who are in the business of selling pms play the long game steady return over 4/5 years premium silver bullion such as the Perth lunars have trended upwards over time don't look for a quick profit it's a bear market at the moment but things could change don't chase the market goodluck

Similar to K_T above, I buy PMs to save rather than to invest, and chose it above other methods of saving because of the protection it offers against a monetary collapse.
 
I had money sitting in a bank account which I didn't foresee myself needing any time soon and pretty much earning zero interest, so PMs seemed a low risk way of diversifying my savings, and as a bonus it has actually turned out to be rather addictive fun

Yeah this trend seems to be developing the past few months.  Might have to re-name us The Gold Forum
