  1. I don't have any gold proofs or even rare dates as I collect gold only for bullion value and I like touching them. Sovs and even 24k, not bothered about, will handle it. But I still keep them in capsules none the less and take out from time to time. However my silver collection I do not touch, it is entirely proof only and they stay in the capsule, in their proof box, in their shipping box. I just write on the shipping box what each is inside. I sometimes take the coin in its capsule and just admire them for the artwork on them then place back in the box inside the other box lol. Gold is an investment for me and silver is for fun and do not expect a return on it.
  2. As I mentioned in my thread RE: Quarter oz Brits. they also list a discrepancy in weights between proof and bullion. They list bullion as 7.775g and proof as 7.80g. When weighed my bullion 1/4 oz weigh 7.80g,
  3. I've always found the higher the gold quantity the lower the premium a. Ie a 1 oz has less premium than a 1/2 oz etc, except with sovereigns ha! I presume sovereigns are made in much higher quantity so costs lower.
  4. Some sites report the 1/4 at 22.05 same as sovereign whilst others at 22.00. I also prefer the 1/4 brit to a sov but the premium on them is a lot larger at 8-10% that's why I went for sovs as my staple. Interesting point is that Royal Mint is now reporting proof 1/4 Brits at 7.80g on the nose rather than 7.77g or 1/4 oz which they do for the bullion version. https://www.royalmint.com/britannia/commemorative/2023/the-britannia-2023-quarter-ounce-gold-proof-coin/
  5. Thanks. Yea both fit the same capsule which saves on that! So 0.05mm (21.95 as opposed to 22.00) under size is within tolerance?
  6. Hi all, looking for your help. I usually only buy sovereigns but picked up a couple 1/4 oz Britannias locally as a change. From what I can find the dimensions from Royal Mint are 22.05mm diameter and 7.77g. Mine weigh approx 7.80g and 21.95mm in diameter. Is this about right for them? Could any compare? They are 2020 and 2019.
