  1. That’s not really true for George I and II - you’re up for more than $1000 to get a crown sized coin from those monarchs
  2. I’ve always admired this Britannia which looks French or maybe Corinthian to me
  3. I notice the Mint says Robin Hood, Maid Marian, and a mystery coin form a three coin set. Assume this means Little John is the last one... I've got all three in 10oz bullion, with the price of silver I'm quite glad there's no Friar Tuck etc
  4. No... if I like a single coin I will buy it. But the days of me checking out the RM to see whether a particular coin in the series is being released are over.
  5. Didn’t someone post a George V Monarchs Gazette Proclamation earlier?
  6. The irony is 2024 was due for George III and George V. I totally agree that Charles II (at the same time as the frankly better Simon great engravers) and George II were just not interesting enough. The first one I bought was George I and crown sized originals for him are unaffordable and hard to get. But I get it’s pretty niche…
  7. 1. Breaking faith with collectors 2. Quality control 3. Milkspotting then denying they have a problem 4. Ripping off gullible collectors of historic coins 5. running out of ideas
  8. I'm choosing to see it as a blessing, because I spent a lot on modern coins which are not normally my area of interest because of this series and the Memorial/Coronation ones. I might buy Great Engravers in the future, but otherwise I will stop following the RM. Actually keeping an eye out for new Monarch series coins - which let's not forget, sold out on the day of release for the early coins - has led me to buy other coins that I wouldn't normally care for. None of this changes the contempt I feel for the RM who clearly need a clear out of their management.
  9. Same. I have all the silver coins, albeit 3 were bought on the secondary market as the early ones sold out so quickly. But I’ve spent what I consider a lot with the RM in the past two years
  10. Thanks! It's a 5 lira from the unified kingdom of Italy. I think .900 silver. It's a little smaller than a UK crown.
  11. I think it's a great site. I've bought many items on it over the years, especially coins from German states as it seems to have a lot of German coin shops on it.
  12. I'm not interested in selling for a profit. But do you think the Royal Mint versions are noticeably more attractive/ better workmanship?
  13. I know this is probably off topic, but do people have any view on the East India Company versions of the Great Engravers? Like there is an Alderney or St Helena version of Una and the Lion, is it noticeably lesser quality compared to the RM version? I have a St Helena version of the Three Graces, and while that might be a realistic one to get from the official RM version, I don't think I can ever justify a couple of grand for the RM version of Una and the Lion in silver.
  14. Wow... I guess I don't really need to buy anything further from the Royal Mint. To be honest most of their series are not of interest and it's only the history of the place that makes it worthwhile. The monarch series and the great engravers are the only things I've bought that I'm glad I did.
  15. Do you have any more information, or is this some subtext I'm missing, so if the RM says it's paused that means they've cancelled it but they don't have the guts/decency to say so?
  16. I've been following how this series is going on the secondary markets, seems like it's going as well as any other modern series. George III was due this year, how about they use the Obverse of the Pistrucci My copy has obviously seen better days of course
