  1. Did anyone realise the great, the glorious principle coin of the auction the HUGE una and lion has handling marks, scartches, harlines etc all over the place. Why RM just why, why did they treat this coin like this, and give the fact they are the mint can't they do something about it to improve the eye appeal of the coin? Though it would only be my problem if the centre of the coin is filled with chocolate😉
  2. On a side note, do you guys know how likely will NGC conserve a coin that looks almost perfect with a 5x loupe, as I want to checked the conservation option for all of my coins(ten or more) for this submission just incase they find it can help with the grade, but I am also worried that they will hit me with a huge bill for the conservation as they ended up conserving all the coins...! Do you guys normally check the conservation option even if you think that the coin most likely does not need conservation? Thanks!
  3. Do you know anything about how production faults that does not affect grading, as I have heard and seen quite a few coins with a big gash or something of that nature getting 70s...
  4. Interestingly This imperfection on the harp is actually seen on the pictures RM posted on their product page, though it seems to still be a fault and not a part of the design as I haven't seen it elsewhere. https://www.royalmint.com/our-coins/events/the-great-engravers/gothic-crown/gothic-crown-quartered-arms-2oz-gold-proof-coin/.
  5. No the fault is not very apparent to the naked eye at all, I was only able to find it with a five times loupe and tilting the coin, after locating it I can barely make it out with my naked eye at certain angles. You are absolutely right about these pictures being much more zoomed in then 5x, they were taken with my phone(27mm lense, pretty close to eye's pov) through a 5x loupe and then zoomed in to 50% so probably close to what you would see through a 12x loupe. I think the graders would be able to spot the faults through a 5x loupe though, it is apparent when looking under 5x. However, what confuses the most about NGC grading is how they determine post production fault and production faults as I understand the strike and post production marks do definitely affect the grade of a high grade coin like this... However some production fault might not count at all? (ps I have no exiperence with grading modern high grade proofs at all, so probably very dumb question). I have actually found two more similar crater on the reverse. Here are some pictures of the coin under 5x magnification and nature sunlight.
  6. Yea, another reason why I want either all first release or none is I want the same label on all my coins to statisfy my OCD lol.
  7. Got these monrachs the other day, was super scared when I saw the weird swirly mark on queenie's cheek on the obersve initally.(ps: don't want to draw on her face, I hope you guys can spot the marks) However upon comparison to my other JC portaits on my other 2oz sized coins(Gothic silvers) it seems to be present on all of my 1-2oz coins including the gold 2oz monarch. It is just particularly pronounced on the monarchs' coins especially the 1oz silvers. What do you guys think could have caused this weird but super neat effect, is it just how metal flows under the pressure of the die? So I don't really think it is milk spotting on the silvers given the fact the gold coins has the same mark? Ps: all the coins in the pictures are monarch coins, two silvers and one gold. Ps: anyone know whats up with the QC stickers' business with RM, they only had it on half of the coins I got and they are all over the place, some on capsules, some in the box, the only consistent thing is all the coins with the QC stickers had QC issues lol.
  8. Thanks for the input, I will enquire about a replacement, if that is not possible I will probably gamble with the conservation for the coin. Though the dust in mainly on the capsule. However, on second glance I realised that the reverse is not as perfect as I initally thought, there is bits of frosting missing on the harp(can't seem to see it in any of the pictures I have taken) and a tiny crater by the right paw of the top lion in the bottom quadrant and some small craters on the edge by the year. I have no exiperence in grading modern proofs, what do you guys think about these mark and their impact on grading? Many thanks!!
  9. Does anyone know if they do, I would think they really don't.... Given the fact most recent releases are sold out in minutes... it just solely depends on your luck with the RM dispatch team in terms of if you could have the first release label...
  10. Thanks, it's the royal mint though... So I guess I have learnt to deal with it. You think the tiny crater by the lion's paws there is no big deal right?
  11. I will most likely keep it, but I will still sent my man the pictures and ask for the possiblity of a restrike😉!
  12. Yea I have seen far worth myself too,one of the first set of coins I got from the mint in the platinum jubilee collection, the 2 coin 50p set I posted here a month ago had their edged bit off by a QC inspector, I assume that was during the standard procedure for them to check the gold content of the coin😉. But I think there is no chance for my Gothic crown to be a 70 with these sort of issues then? Haven't got too much exiperence in determing the grade myself, what do you guys think?
  13. Managed to get this beauty today, probably one of the last one struck. First glance, an almost perfect coin, second glance, spot on observe by queenie's forehead, third glance, bullet holes by the right hand of the lion and tiny bits missing frosting peppered the reverse. Hate RM QC shenanigans, however the Capsule feels suprisingly nice in comparison to the other coins I recieved recently. Does anyone have exiperence with NGC conservation, do you guys think they can sort out the spot on the observe? Input needed, should I keep the coin or trying to get one restruck for me? Many thanks🐿️!
  14. Anyone has any exiperence with NGC conservation? Finally got this beauty, however with the recent QC shenanigans with RM coins this coin has a small issue as well. However, unlike my other RM coin that I sent back, this one doesn't have chipped rim or frosting missing etc. There seem to be a tiny spot on the mirror field on ther observe by queenie's forehead, does anyone have exiperence with NGC conservation, as I was thinking that it is likely to be removed by them and given the RM QC it is probably better to keep this otherwise perfect coin and have NGC conserve it.
  15. I had a big lot of coins that I was going to submit to NGC in London last week, but due to the Royal Mint QC shenanigans I had to send six coins back (PS, I had seven coins delivered by DHL thus far, three of them had the capsule open upon delivery, everything else that did not open were screw capusles). So I couldn't do the submission. The delimma is all the coin I sent back, when their replacement are back very soon(knock on wood) they will still be in the First Release label window by NGC. However, one coin that I orginial wanted to sent last week with the others has a first release cut off date of next tuesday. Should I pay for the 13 quid forum fee just for this one coin to get the first release label? What do you guys think, thanks!
  16. What do you guys think about the salience of the NGC first release label, if your coin qualifies should you opt for it?
  17. Royal Mint's website(has anyone noticed that now we are always forced onto the "beta" verision of the site, you used to be able to get on the normal site with more information by removing the beta from the url) is getting more mysterios by the minute, secrect queue that I seemingly cannot find... But I stumbled across this, did not know that the royal mint is selling NGC graded MS perth mint sovereigns now...https://www.royalmint.com/our-coins/ranges/historic-coins/historic-sovereigns/1908-Edward-VII-Perth-Mint-NGC-MS62/
  18. Why do I feel like this a very dangerous slippery slope, can anyone imagine the chaos and bloodshed if they make the 2oz gold gothic avaliable on the website again. People who paid massive premium for it will be furious, and people who were able to get it at the inital launch will be pissed too with all the stress that was assoicated with the inital launches.
  19. Proabably a werid time to mention this, with the gold price increase today I was looking through the increase in royal mint rrp for gold proof coins after release and see if that coincides somewhat with the spot market. Has anyone noticed that the 2oz portait actually had a increase in rrp when it was released early this month as well, I though the quaratered arms was 4995 and the portait I believe was 5120. I only remember seeing mentions of the 5oz gold's rrp increasing for the second coin, so I might be mistaken.
  20. Just saw this, old news by now. Didn't know that both severn bridge and prince of wales bridge were closed due to the storm today... Proabably explains why some of the coins were stuck in wales, mine is already in London just due to the wind Royal Mail suspended delivery to my postal code...
  21. Thanks for the input, sorry to hear about your coin too... BTW forgot to mention that the englarged image for my coin was under 5x magnification, I think I would call the mint today and hopefully we will go from there...
  22. It's a Graf Von Fabre Castell Alexander, very funny story. I actually preferred the Montblanc great character Enzo Ferrari pen, but missed out as apperantly one store sold eight(all of their allocation) in one night as I was still deciding, it had a mintage of 1898. I was disappointed for a long time, then consider the fact it's just stainless steel plated with platinum and cost 3000pounds whilst probably have to stay in blister pack for forever. I am actually happy with my decision of going with the GVFC instead, much pettier, one third the price and solid silver(just a bit heavy...)it has the same mintage of 1898(not really as it is not even numbered and was released three years ago). Before I got into modern royal mint proofs I thought a 3000 pound fountain pen selling out in two days is fast lol... Glad I can have two thousand pounds for my coins instead.
  23. Would definitely pay them a visit before the end of the year🤞! Lucky for you to go on the 6th, what flavour is the chocolate?
