  1. £60 per sleeve including Royal Mail Tracked 48 postage - ALL SOLD
  2. Lovely looking coin. Looks to have full detail… £360 posted RMSD - SOLD
  3. Perhaps RM should copy Hatton's of London's "Sell Out Guarantee" (hear me out) They set a cut-off date for each release, and whatever doesn't sell, they melt. But for this to work, they'd have to explicitly state that they will melt what doesn't sell and also provide the final mintage figures - like Hatton's, but without the worlds first 1/8th octagonal half sovereign.
  4. This seems really important. It would be great if Royal Mail could do something about this, like making a record of parcels that are delivered with address discrepancies (If they don't already do so). In the event of a discrepancy, they will always deliver to the address written/printed on the parcel. Obviously, they may not want to increase their administrative workload, but if they were made aware of this type of scam then maybe they'd be inclined to record this information and have it accessible to the sender, who paid for the service.
  5. @silvergaga It has to fall in to a criteria set out by HMRC. It's very broad, covers most bullion coins & bars. Not sure on jewellery though..
  6. Thanks for that. As I said, it was all overwhelming looking at the link I was directed to by the HMRC operator. But you have indeed found it by simple google search. Much appreciated. I haven't as the buyer, but the seller will have done so as an eBay listing.
  7. Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a gold coin from a US based Ebay seller and was hoping to avoid the hassle of paying VAT at my doorstep and then jumping through hoops to claim it back. I have looked through the similar topics on this and found some references but not sure it is the latest information so thought I would reach out for any advice... I called HMRC VAT general enquiries number to find if there is anything I can do to avoid the VAT/duty being applied to investment gold in error (the coin does fall into the investment category). I was told that there is a way to avoid it, but the responsibility lies with the seller, who must fill the paperwork correctly by stating the Customs Procedure Code (CPC). Unfortunately, they would not offer any advice on the correct code, but would point me in the direction of where I could find it - CHIEF: customs procedure codes - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) The information is not straightforward. I did say as much on the phone and they said that the seller should know the correct code. When I told them the seller may not be a business but an ad hoc private seller, they told me to direct them to the website., which I don't think would go down well if I tried. So, just wondering if anyone with experience of this, does anyone know the correct CPC code to provide the seller, or the correct procedure to avoid the VAT/duty chargers, if possible? Thanks in advance Silverjacks
  8. Last time I ordered from US Mint, I was charged at my doorstep by UPS Man
  9. Interesting. That gives reason to be optimistic, although I’m not sure it would apply to overseas shipping… What would really be nice, is if we could dodge the 20% vat…
  10. Found it now. It is free budget shipping only
  11. The subscription option says free shipping. There's bound to be a T&C somewhere that says that applies to domestic shipping only, but I can't find it anywhere...
  12. Weight and diameter were ok, but didn't check ping. I also looked for unusual depressions & raised bumps, & compared to some known sources for diagnostics. There's something about the lines, they sort of reflect what I can only describe as a frosty looking lustre. The optimist in me was saying, "maybe it's a worn die, which would also account for any weakness in design. This is a green flag" The realist in me says "it just looks a bit odd and is likely a red flag. I don't really understand if this could be a characteristic of a fake coin, be it struck or cast, but when it comes back in a body bag it can be studied a bit further to try and learn something from it, along with any other problems to identify" For the record, I don't literally have voices in my head 😵
  13. Thanks for your input Dave. I have a bad feeling about it also. I Will report back result but won't raise my hopes/expectations in the meantime...
  14. Yeah it's such a tricky coin. It can cause anyone problems, even the more experienced collectors such as yourself. Looking at the lines, they aren't restricted to the back of the neck area, like the more common red flags. Hopefully it's just die flow... My thinking is that if it comes back genuine, I will know not to worry about this characteristic. If it comes back in a body bag, I will avoid this in future but it's a shame NGC don't offer any further detail when it comes to "not genuine" coins. Time will tell...
  15. Does anyone know if this is just die flow lines, or something that brings the authenticity into question? It’s already with NGC, will post results in a couple months. Any opinion would be appreciated as I’m looking at another raw coin with similar lines on it. Wondering whether to buy or avoid… or not look into it too much…
  16. Both coins have some small milk spots. £140 plus postage of choice - SOLD
  17. "The rarest is the 1863-P $20 1-ounce gold Liberty coin. Just one of these coins can go for six figures at auction, and the Great Kentucky Hoard boasts 18 of them" "Finding one mint condition 1863 Double Eagle would be an important numismatic event. Finding nearly a roll of superb examples is hard to comprehend,” Imagine purchasing one of these in high grade, then reading the news that someone has just unearthed 18 of them... I guess if you're in the market for those kind of coins then it's a risk you can afford to take...
  18. It's a nice one to add. Very similar to the Petition Crown as @MapleLeaf pointed out. I like the variation of the series so far.
  19. They only change one number every so often, PTS144, PTS 145 etc You could just keep brute forcing until it works lol
  20. It worked for me just now, but only at the payment stage. At the basket stage, it failed.
  21. Damn it I forgot to say soon enough, PTS146 for free delivery
  22. If you are in the queue, just search for a royal mint product in any browser, like " royal mint British monarchs" and you will bypass the broken queue-it system
