Circulation damage or perhaps an error?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

apologies as this is not a precious metal, rather just a one penny and not rare at that. This was part of a lot. What is more or less amusing is that I am not sure if this is just circulation wear or perhaps a slightly false planchet. I have little to no knowledge about errors and non-precious coinage in general, so your opinions are much appreciated. What do you all think, potentially an error, or would this just be considered wear? I’m leaning towards this penny having been squashed in an unfortunate place rather than an error.

thank you for your input

To me, it looks as if it was damaged after being put into circulation.
