Ferromagnetic coins - 1,000 Rupiah

Recommended Posts

Not something you see everyday - ferromagnetic coins.  I think these are made from nickel plated steel.  1 Dirham coins from Dubai are made of the same material, but mine have gone awol.  These are worth about 6p each.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

Well, bugger me.  According to the interwebs they're copper plated steel now.

One interesting thing about information...

Seek and ye shall find!

As for the invitation, I would prefer to decline, thanks.

Nothing personal you understand!

And UK 5p and 10p coins are also made of nickel plated steel (2011 onwards).
