As often, this could be helped by better or more photos.

The left hand mark in your top photo is unclear, perhaps worn, but you might be able to get a better photo.

The seated figure could be identified better if we could see his / her attributes, for example, is there a flag on the shield? if so is the a Union Flag (Jack), or some other.

It would also be worth cropping the photos, and how about showing an inverted close-up of the lower mark which looks like "LOND..."?

There are very many deities and personifications, on coins and elsewhere, which show a seated figure with a shield and other attributes.

If we can be sure the figure is Britannia, then we should be able to assume the metal is Britannia silver (95.83%).

😎

Thank you.  They are very worn. I will take more pics and try cropping and adjusting the temperature/lighting to see if I can get better clues.   It was very interesting reading the comments and I really do appreciate your scholarship.  Please forgive me if I create a blunder now and then as I learn to navigate your system.  If you visit TN come see us, we love antique silver.    Regards... Hilda

Hi

I am way late to this conversation.  I found it looking up a mark.  But .... just in case.

The images are not a proper silver mark as another member had indicated (with pictures).  The cartouche around the lions head is not the shape seen on the silver of the period (correct image attached), which would be 1697-1720.

Pewter is out of my area, but from some history I have, the rose seems to be related to pewter.  Even though you say it doesn't look it, I would probably find someone to do an XRF (x-ray fluorescence) and find out for sure what it is.  My guess is pewter.  But being sure is good, the lion's head erased and Brittania for the .9584 standard have been optional and have been used after that time, so you never know.
