  1. Hi I am way late to this conversation. I found it looking up a mark. But .... just in case. The images are not a proper silver mark as another member had indicated (with pictures). The cartouche around the lions head is not the shape seen on the silver of the period (correct image attached), which would be 1697-1720. Pewter is out of my area, but from some history I have, the rose seems to be related to pewter. Even though you say it doesn't look it, I would probably find someone to do an XRF (x-ray fluorescence) and find out for sure what it is. My guess is pewter. But being sure is good, the lion's head erased and Brittania for the .9584 standard have been optional and have been used after that time, so you never know.
