Mint error grading with NGC

Hi all, quick question please for those that grade - if I have a variation coin such as “4 over inverted 4” Victoria shield sovereign, do i HAVE to start a new form and tick the “mint error” in add on services? I.e. if I submit under just the gold tier with my other coins they will not label it as “4 over inverted 4” even if I put that as a description in “mintmark” field? Thanks I’m advanced for answers!

NGC are allegedly less likely to recognise coins as having Mint errors (bl based on a couple of conversations I have had with people).

I graded a couple of coins with obvious mint errors and didn’t have a problem though.

You do not need a new form  you are submitting the same types of coins with varieties or error,   HOWEVER you need to know if the NGC recognise the error.  Even if you have a valid date over etc they will not submit it as a new error or variety.

I would check the population to see if its there and/or get them to confirm they will assigning the attribute you want prior to sending.  I have had this with loads of error/variety sovereigns.
