1968 Mexico 25 Pesos

Recommended Posts

Hello wise people of TSF. Does anyone know about the writing on the edge of the Olympic 25 Pesos?

I've got a few and they all have the writing around the side the same way up except for one of them. I was wondering if this was significant or it was just random which way up they get stamped.

Many thanks!

The edge lettering: INDEPENDENCIA Y LIBERTAD

Translation: Independence and Liberty

There are over 27 million of these coins minted to commemorate the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games. So they are common and widely available.

I doubt there are any significance about which side the lettering is read. There isn't such a variety type.

Thanks for the info. I've tried to find out about the side lettering regarding its orientation and have so far drawn a blank.
