One item that has always interested me on another thread is an 1880 Half Sovereign - looked genuine and one has been through London Coin Auctions but it is not listed in Marsh.

Which variety of the 1880 half sovereign do you mean?  The London one with die numbers is listed on p.186, the London without a die number is listed on p.188, and the Sydney one is listed on p.193.

As written previously i feel 1874 London shield sov ‘ rarity should be downgraded from r4 to r3.

i understand this is a very very very problematic file as mr Hill owns 8-10 of these coins actually available on his website and downgrading would authomatically means re pricing them.. 

but the figures nowadays dont match with what its been written for ages..
