Prince Philip Coins From The Royal Mint

Recommended Posts

New banner advert for Prince Philip, wouldn't be surprised if there is a release at 9am for a Prince Philip coin.

Gonna be popular I would imagine, just for posterity if for nothing else.

Still very much doubt they will issue a coin to commorate his death. They didn't for the Queen Mother, when she died, despite issuing a 100th Birthday coin for her four years before.

Phillip rejected the idea of a 100th Birthday issue for him, so I imagine we would be equally against a commemoration of his popping his clogs, were he still with us, and no doubt made his feelings know. After all, he went to great lengths to prepare his funeral.

I have already seen a coin here, not the type of coin I collect.

Bradford Exchange do all manner of unofficial things, often at rip off prices. Any issue from the Royal Mint has to have Palace agreement. I bet you Bradford didn't.

Samecwith Westminster, London Mint Company and every other unoffficial mint. Jumping on the bandwagon to make a quick buck off the unsuspecting  and getting a barrage of mail for offer offers.

Don't get me wrong. I was disappointed that they had no plans to issue a 100th Birthday Piedfort coin. If the did issue a comemorative Piedfort I would grab one to add to the collection of Royal Birthdays and Anniversaries thatI have.

Just can't see it happening.
