Coin dealers

Hi everyone..

Wanted some information if you can help. I've been collecting Gold and Silver for a few years, slowly building/stacking...most of my purchases are from bullion dealers or ebay. Both bullion coins/bars seem cheaper buying from the USA but when you factor in shipping and taxes...doesn't makes any sense purchasing from that forum.

I live near Heathrow and although I've done some research I cannot find any local coin shops in or near my area...so would anyone know of coin shops or dealers near my location??

I have a disability so cannot travel too far.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

regards

We definitely lack shops selling coins and bullion in the UK unlike the USA.
Your best bet is to place a wanted listing in the UK trade section on this forum and you will get responses from many people who have proven themselves to be trustworthy.
Check their feedback status.
Also with VAT on silver now you will find forum prices hard to match through any shop or dealer who add significant margins because of their overheads, staff costs and business profit.

Hello collector.

It's pretty poor round here, I am St Alban's area, just a few notches around the M25. There is a guy I use in Hatfield occasionally. He doesn't display or advertise anything. It's just a old jewlery shop. He just whips in to his safe and brings a tray out. So look for old jewelry shops in the area. There is not enough demand in the UK I think.

But probably the best thing to do is save your money and go to the coin Fayers in London. Usually get threeish a year. I find it easier for bartering a good deal.

Thanks..yes I agree....but with this pandemic who knows when coin fayers will be operating again...and all these bullion dealers with no supply one week...Next week they have a few coins for sale....seems they have inside info and holding on to their stock expecting a sharp rise..

Some jewelers have coins that get traded in or encashed. Try there. In the UK, a physical coin shop would be a big outlay with very few customers unless in the middle of London and even then the rent would be extortionate meaning the coin dealer would also be in other business.

Britannia Coin Company of Royal Wooten Bassett maybe 🤔

Agreed - the coin fairs are genuinely interesting and very much worth a visit.

I realised how parochial my collecting was when I saw the breadth and depth of coins available.

I took my children to the London Coin Fair and hats off to the organisers they let them in for free.
