With the current pandemic is it a good time to start buying?

Thanks. That sounds like a good idea. With around £100 to invest would buying Britannia coins or mini bars be the better option? Coins seem cheaper at the moment.

Half sovereigns are always good. Quarter sovs are much higher premium. Just mind they're 22c not fine 24c gold.

If you can wait a few months then the dealers should be stocked again once the mints reopen and start producing, the premiums will fall when they can’t shift their stock and you will be able to pick up new coins for a lot less than they are now (if you can find any). Was talking to a guy from Goldcore yesterday and they aren’t expecting any silver for a while (current premium is 26% above spot with them iirc).

It is not guaranteed that by waiting a few months, prices will be lower. There is a high chance yes, but prices could also rocket.

These kind of crystal ball posts confuse me.

In this instance, given the nature of supply and demand, wouldn’t it be the natural way for it to go? (assuming nowt else bad happens globally)

It depends on what way you look at it. Demand is being created for a reason. Who is to say even as supply comes back, demand doesnt increase even further.

We have seen an event that has bad effects on the economy. But we haven't really seen the effects yet. People have been focusing on the pandemic but even after its long over we could be seeing the financial effects for years. Demand could go way up, we may only be seeing the tip of the iceberg.
