Hello,

I’ve been offered a 1959 Sovereign and it’s in fairly good shape. Is this a melt value coin or does it hold any other value?

Thank you!

Andrew

What kind of condition! - have you got a pic ?

Cheers @5huggy. Not as yet. It’s been offered to me for 310 and I’m not stacking Full Sovs so would only buy it if there was some money in it to turn around quickly.

They are selling on eBay for about 350 so likely I will pass on it. If anyone is interested in it, I could buy on your behalf and send out? Happy to include receipts and/or simply put you in direct contact if easier...

Spread the love. That’s what I say.

£310 - is worth a punt to turn over - if condition is reasonable IMHO

I would be game if I had not already COMMITTED - to other "Sweeties"!!😕

I’m only in a position to do this if it is a guaranteed sale and I don’t lose any money. I’ll just pass on this one, but if anyone wants to know where to get a decent condition 1959 Sov PM me and I’ll let you know.

Just spent a fair bit myself on 1/10 Nuggets (1986!) and William IV half sovs (swoon!) following the sale of a lot of silver and spare George III half sovs and so really can’t overreach too much at the moment in the hope I make a wee profit!

The 59 is the lowest montage of the first portrait, so always worth getting as it’s only going to go up. I had a few I sold for £50 over spot a little while back.

Thanks for this - I may take a punt after all.

A high proportion of the Sovs of the 1959 - 1968 period are in pretty good condition in my experience.

I have bought a couple this year in v good condition - paid no more than any other coin from the 59-68 period.

Best
