Any recommendations for boxes for storing coins in capsules.

I use large airtight Tupperware containers.

I use the wilkinson ones...£4 each

I have never tried 2 oz coins but I would have thought it might well be a bit of a squeeze.

Snap, keithoil thats what I use.  You can also pick them up from Wilkinson's for £2.99 if Home bargains haven't got any.

 

I have not tried a 2oz coin in mine, I use mine for 1/2oz and 1oz

I am in the middle of migrating mine to the ASE monster boxes.

 

I am however being quite selective.

 

The jury is still out as to whether I should take the Australian coins  out of their capsules and put them into the tubes.

Could you not just leave them in their capsules and put them in Airtite tubes?

I think that is the best option but I want to keep all the tubes the same.

 

So now another dilemma.

Quick question what size is a typical Australian coin in the capsule Koala, Kookaburra, Kangaroo etc, etc.

 

I do not have any with me to measure them.

 

I can get Air-tite tubes in 44.95mm and 51.69mm.

Sorted, bought 10 of each size.

 

The Australian Lunar II coins are 45.6 mm diameter so with the case will be around 48-49mm.

If you are talking as a collector, not as stacker, I suggest you the best value/cost I found in wood boxes: the volterra trio from Leuchtrum. Not the cheapest solution, but I think that to spend the price of 1 oz in a box that can store 60 ounces is affordable, for 30€ (in my local shop) your premium coins will look awsome... ... remember that collecting is to enjoying...

I agree the Leuchtrum are excellent and already have one that takes Quadrum type capsules.  I was wondering  what to do with bullion or semi collectable coins in capsules and think the air tites tubes seem the best best so far.
