Is the 1999 £5 Diana memorial coin a quintuple sovereign? Also, are the gold £2 coins, (eg Marconi, the one like a football etc) double sovereigns or just a gold variant of a standard coin? 🖖

Beautiful photograph. I will read your posts re photographing coins. I tried to take a photograph of a 1980 quintuple yesterday and I can honestly say - it looked nothing like yours😁

Maybe it was something to do with the oil crisis in 1979. Dad was flight crew for BOAC then British Airways and he used to speak about having to take gold to actually pay for the fuel in the Middle East, maybe it was sovs? 😎

I had no idea😁. I assumed that there was some kind of parity each year, but obviously not. I wonder where all the1979’s are, more interesting is why were so many minted? Maybe they wanted to ‘pave the streets with gold’ 💫

Have I got this right? Just checking some mintage numbers and the above and it says 10,000 each year (plus a few for sets) and that they were all proof. Whereas 1979 is 9 million+. Quite a difference there🤣

Thank you again, I’m not certain which variant I have bought other than they are Lighthouse - non foam. Whichever variant they turn out to be they will be a vast improvement on their existing storage conditions!!

Sorry to hear of your problems, it is worrying. In future you can always arrange for the package to be delivered to a local Post Office, once you have the tracking number.
