Is there edge lettering on the Waterloo medal?
-
-
If anyone has been offered n the last week a gold. Chances are 2 of them will be mine.
-
Side lettering I have to say though was pretty centered on both
-
Aye totally useless. Probably someone will be happy just to own it. But if it's not perfect would you really want to have sitting in your collection
-
I wasn't happy with the quality. Although nothing nearly as bad as the petition set in gold I received last year. Small mark more like an indent round the PO lettering area. Second coins horrible Mark above the 4 going through the Charles neckline and 1 slight finning. But the Pistrucci sides both faultess from what I could see. But either way returned with no replacements asked for.
-
The 2 golds had marks on the Charles size, slight finning on one. Wasn't happy with either of them

I can say now I'm out for the Great Engravers downhill slope

Some good news for anyone looking the coins. I've returned 2x 2oz Golds and 1x 2oz Silver. They'll be up for grabs for some RM customers on the waiting list.
Been received and all by the Mint. So some of use may get a call offering the golds or a silver
-
I'm not too impressed. Other size is perfection too from what can see.
Will have to give them a ring tomorrow.

It's a lot of money to be holding onto at the same time. Have to weigh up the pros and cons of keeping them both

Probably will appreciate in the end. I'd speculate if it is this hard to obtain a perfect example, the rarity of that would help a PF70 when the market settles.
If i could, i would shoot for a gold 2oz.
I've 2x 2oz Golds and I'm not sure what to do about them
Maybe keep one, sell one

Seems no one has really much of an interest on any of the weights in the George of the dragon nothing sold on eBay. Negative comments mostly everytime I read about them. Question is will they ever grow and appreciate in value or are these coins doomed already to buy later at less than cost

How many of the originals? …. Well, there always seems quite a few for sale, trouble being that as they were obviously in circulation a long time trying to find a decent one is difficult 🤔🤔
So there not actually a rare coin then like some of the others in the series.
-
How many of the original were actually produced by Pistrucci? Does anyone know

My guess is this (very low feedback) seller took a punt, listing a coin he doesn't have, so will be unable to complete the sale
Interestingly, he has listed another 2oz for a much higher BIN price... hmmm... [https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126348710638]
Sounds about right. I see there's one in hand already on eBay also

I've ordered gold and silver, the question now if they arrive with finning what do I do? To me it's an imperfection, totally noticeable. I would assume takes the coins value down as imperfect but not sure. To return a coin like this and miss out would be disappointing and to keep with finning would be disappointing too. It's a hard one
-
Ooh my word. That's shocking.
What did you do with that coin? That's awful to look at. Maybe some people like the odd look but not for me.
-
I'll have to watch a video on this planchet distance / pressure would like to see exactly how this is caused and why they can't get it right
-
So the finning on your coins must have annoyed you to have them sent to get filed. So if this George and the dragon arrives and yours has finning, you'd rather have the coin returned to be filed than keep in your collection with finning on the edge band? Is that correct? That's what I'm worried about after seeing the gold there tonight
-
It's all very interesting when you get into the issues that arise, filing down the excess metal would be a must for me, you'd think they would have these sitting flush to perfection before being sent out. I really happen to like this coin I just hope I don't get the finning not easy in the eyes, well mine anyways lol. Do you have photos of the set you had where the marks were shown?

The Royal Mint also produced this already in 2015. What's the difference in the 2015 and this one? Makes no sense why another
