  1. UPDATE:  current spot is 47.6p.  I WILL DELIVER THESE FOR SPOT. (UK ONLY, ROYAL MAIL 2ND CLASS SIGNED FOR, MAX 750g)

Since the definitions of "scrap" and "collectable" are somewhat subjective, there are some snaps below of what is the typical condition of the Two Shilling coins I have.

    **Example Orders**

    239g of 0.500 silver 2 Shillings (aka Florin) = 119.5g of silver x spot @ £0.476p/g = £57 DELIVERED (SPOT)

    500g of 0.500 silver 2 Shillings (aka Florin) = 250g of silver x spot @ £0.476p/g = £119 DELIVERED (SPOT)

    700g of 0.500 silver 2 Shillings (aka Florin) = 350g of silver x spot @ £0.476p/g = £167 DELIVERED (SPOT)

All in pretty good nick.  Happy to show photos if needed.

Went to my local registered numismatic coin dealer to get my 1989 sov and half sov graded and also ended up getting a 1953 Coronation Crown proof for 17 quid and a creased 1762 1/4 guinea EF condition for 155 quid. If uncreased, it would be  worth 400 quid and upwards. Still, lovely bit of history to have for the permanent collection. Dealer knocked 10% off the listed price which was nice of him.

Could be a love token, coins which were bent in two places slightly and given to women by their sweethearts.  You lost value because of it being bent but nice to know that you're possibly holding something which could have been treasured by a young woman more than 250 years ago.

  4. I still feel Like my buy last night was right too, I offloaded some premium silver and netted about £21 per ounce, raising over £800 in the process - I had a Dilemma , If i didn't buy there and then , there was a possibility spot would creep back up again, id end up in a cycle of waiting for it to drop again and may eventually end up buying bullion and a delivered price of not much less than what I netted for the premium stuff, and It would have been a wasted exercise that would lead to my collection being the same in ounces but less in value.

Having replaced ounce per ounce what I sold I feel much more comfortable now and that's worth a few quid to me lol.

Yes. Yes. Yes.  In the game of such uncertainty and emotional rollercoasting it's refreshing to see someone with a clear plan, taking decisive action/

  5. i would like to get to £11.20 ish i think this will be a new era  i also like to talk in $ , in america they talk of sub $20 silver  , were going sub $18 its a very strange place to be in , youre not sure wether to pile in or hold back

I like to refer to silver in Bahrani Dinar because at current exchange rates an ounce of silver will cost you 7 BHD, so feels like i'm getting more.

  6. 1872 Shield Sovereign, surprised what great condition it's in, also surprised that Victorias head is up side down, didn't know that was a thing.

Lovely one you got there.  How much did it set you back?

Edit - ok 245 from Atkinsons I see

  7. Got my ringed capsules today and I gotta say, huge improvement.

Much prefer it to the properly sized capsules.

Ares where did you get those ringed capsules from, I'm after some myself soon.

And whose head did you place that coin on before taking the picture, that's some mad braiding.

  8. I think TheBullionBoy used to do that in his living room he said. But advised against it, because of the chemicals and it's much cheaper to go to a refinery.

blimey, doing that in his living room?

my mrs won't even allow me to eat me plate of spaghetti bolognese in front of the telly for fear of splashing sauce on the carpet!!!

  9. Looked into it a few years back, big cost in getting bars to 999 , and assay costs, very little trust in market for bars not assayed , or not coming from established company's

I agree I think trust is a major factor here and people would prefer to buy a few bags of pre 1947 coins with George's boat race on it than a block of silver that's not from a reputable dealer, in my opinion.
