  1. What do you think the quality will be like, I have never purchased an American proof silver dollar coin before. Are they prone to milk spots like britannias or is the quality usually much higher or is this the reason you have chosen to go with a higher amount of coins in your order in case some come through with spots or issues. I wanted to add to my reverse proof order allocatiom but I was out of luck as all allocations had been taken so there was none extra to add. Are you expecting a ngc or pcgs 70 grade to Net a large ROI over the raw prices that they are already going for now even though they have yet to be released.
  2. Just been online to ebay to check the pre-sales for the reverse proof set of Morgan and Peace dollars and I was surprised to see what these are going for raw. £419.78 (US$539.20) As a much lower mintage than the regular Proof, it would seem that this could be the real winner, give it some time to see what happens when graded in a Reverse Proof 70 from NGC or PCGS then the premiums on this set could be even higher than the 2021 Denver Morgan in a 70 which is already alot considering I was expecting the Philidelphia mint to have less 70 grades than 69 grades and had hoped that would have been the real winner for 2021 but I guess I was wrong. I was fortunate to be able to get my subscription in for the reverse proof set and I'm unable to make changes to the amount as the subscription has ended with all coins allocated through subscription so I'm lucky enough to be inline to get one, compared to the coronation sovereign, I think this way of ordering is much better than sitting in a queue and at least the US mint has got something right by being able to provide such a service through such a method that I feel the Royal Mint should consider instead of a botched queue where most people wait to find everything gone, at least there was good notice ahead of time to place an order before release day, I just wish I had amended the order for three sets instead of just the 1 to flip one and gift the other to someone at a later date. It's OK though, I will be satisfied just to get one set. Though I also got an email the other day that they were getting ready to ship the order for the Proof morgan and Peace dollars so I expect they will be taking the funds I have made ready in the next few days.
  3. Common problem I had until recently, however only with bullion purchases from the Royal Mint not for "collectibles" so I can buy proof sovereigns or proof silver but every time I tried to purchase bullion both my HSBC and Nationwide blocked the transaction, the last transaction I made with them was the first successful purchase from the RM for bullion, yet if I go to any dealer like Atkinsons or BBP the bank let's the transaction go through no problem. Get on the phone to the bank, sometimes it is the fraud department you need to speak to like i had to, complain if it doesn't go through and make sure you are on the phone with them at the time of the purchase, I was told it was due to their algorithms. More likely than not they just don't want anyone buying it as it means its not being held by the bank. Either way, it could be a glimpse of the future when banks won't allow any bullion purchases made they want the control but more and more people would rather control their own finances and savings themselves and decide for themselves what they can spend earnings on rather than the bank telling us what we can and can't do, what next they will lobby the government to introduce laws preventing such purchases?
  4. I see a nice yacht master 2 tone. I will probably keep collecting bank notes as well.
  5. With the Royal Mint and probably many other national mints pumping out different coin series left right and centre I'm now fully limiting myself to what I buy due to quality and quantity and profit over customer service. While I understand profit needs to be made, the sheer volume of coins produced and the time limits set by the mint to make them and the mintage figures increasing putting stress on the people making them quality has for sure taken a nose dive throughout the past few years. Do the mints care about new and of course returning customers, not really. Maybe a solution can be found pragmatically where reduction in numbers of coins made and coin series produced where quality can be raised and profits can still be made can be found. Until then... From the Royal Mint will buy sovereigns only and the Great Engravers series, bullion and no more 50p coins unless they do a Thomas the Tank Engine. US Mint 2023 Proof Morgan Dollars and reverse proof and Uncirculated set. Anything else will be old coins pre decimal as I think I want to turn my attention to building a small watch collection. I think I'm pretty much done with coins for now.
  6. It's interesting to hear more Americans are starting to collect coins from the UK, modern or old. Mintages being lower as well. This might he a good thing and a bad thing though as I hope the Royal Mint doesn't produce more and more to cater to a growing market and more countries wanting to buy these products, but this is the RM we are talking about and are churning out more and more coins and the quality has been lacking recently at times. But if mintages stay similar today than they have been and more people do buy more to collect, there is an upside that values could increase for British made RM coins as the market grows, mintages remain the same throughout series like a sovereign, demand could drive prices higher in secondary markets as more people want to buy them. @DTL1982 is there any particular coin series (queen's beast, 50ps, Great Engravers or sovereign) gold, silver or denominations you like to collect or prefer?
  7. Mintage is lower than a quarter brit though. Did they do a 1/4oz coronation britannia? I'm having difficulty seeing if such a coin exists, as for regular 1/4oz britannia it's a bullion coin and there will be so many coins struck that the premium will be very low as there is no mintage limit.
  8. I think this is a term used to explain how it's been cleaned. This term I think refers to cleaning of a coin through use of a light brush. Interestingly enough there are plenty of youtube videos showing coin people in America showing this practice and that people think its OK to do so. Why? I have no idea, if it leaves a mark or know it leaves a mark if ever I saw someone do it to someone's coins I would get very angry. Some coins get details cleaned and thats it as they might have been dipped in ezest but the coin would have been really old and left in solution too long it will look brand new, which is a big tell tale for an old coin for the 19th or early 20th century. There are ways to conserve coins like with NCS part of NGC so if there is undesirable toning or finger print marks on the coin they can be removed without damaging the coin, and they use specific solutions for it which unlike e-zest or brushes won't affect the surface layer on the coin face.
  9. Why, the reason they said its not available was that they themselves stated it was for wholesale customers only. So even though they make it, it was only available for dealers like BBP to buy in bulk to sell on. As for why only BBP had it for sale in UK and note Atkinsons, I don't know why. Maybe they felt they couldn't shift the stock, maybe they weren't offered them to buy and sell. With some German dealers selling them, but large bullion dealers in America like APMeX or SD Bullion I couldn't see them either. While not totally exclusive to BBP they do sell in USA, UK and EU through their distribution offices in each area, and as we are mere mortals the RM won't tell us why it is most places aren't selling them.
  10. It seems pretty common in Germany, they are yet to understand the basics of customer service. Generally speaking I have major problems learning languages, its not my thing as my brain works in a logic and mathematical way, when it comes to languages and reading music I really suffer and I make clear before hand that my ability to speak german in Germany is abysmal, as much as I try and its nor just limited to German but also English my own language. So it often ends with them shouting at me so I just shout back at then and just never go back for their own impertinence. Beyond this, the last coin dealer I was at that sold any kind of coin was really dismissive of ngc or pcgs graded coins, to me grades are that significant but slabbing them to protect them from my child was as sorting through my coins meant she would watch, touch and was trying to open capsules with sovereigns and some silver proof coin capsules were opened and coins ended on the floor. Needless to say that is the point I tried to out across to the coin shop owner who then dismissed solely because they were British and he didn't like british coins due to brexit and they were all in his bargain basket and some really nice coins purely because they were ngc graded. He then tried to pass off some coins that were silver but from some Lesser known mint with a premium that was way beyond reality. So I got some basic silver eagles for the stack, and a 1951 proof like Festival of Britain Crown which graded really nicely and some sold it for more than the €5 plus grading fee I paid for them. As for bullion, I keep to some trusted dealers and buy online but even then payment is never easy as alot of places refuse card payments and it has to be a bank transfer direct. While BBP has slightly higher premiums than alot of bullion dealers here, I'm glad they opened up a distribution centre in mainland Europe that means I can buy the bullion and no longer worry about the import fees and taxes that would have been levied that the zoll was putting on the coins when brexit initially happened. It's a real shame though, voters either chose to vote leave or stay, but people in Europe have taken the hump more so and choose to act like this....at least its a bonus that I can go to a coin shop, ignore the seller if he gets in a huff and can get some bargains because of some prejudice.
  11. So, the farce that was the 2021 Morgan Dollar CC & 0 Privy. It played out rather like the 2023 SOTD coronation sovereign, a big long wait to find not much at all left but a few items. Fast Forward to today, regular 2023 Morgan and Peace dollars came out, and like the SOTD to the Proof, there doesn't seem to be much interest (perhaps due to 400,000 mintage dependingon which version) for the Morgan or Peace dollars. Are there any Americans on here, did you buy a 2023 Morgan or Peace Dollar BUNC or not? Are you holding out for the Proof and Reverse proof set with the former being released 9th August and the Latter being released in November? Also UK silver collectors, will any of you be buying these Proof or reverse proof coins. I have all proof/reverse proof versions on subscription, which once delivery is taken will end the subscription as to bypass website problems I had last time; so that if they bring them out on a more regular basis I can just avoid them. It's probably is going to be my last Proof coin purchase of 2023 unless I find a gold proof double memorial sovereign at the right price.
  12. Well, the 1/4oz arrived in the mail this morning. Imo I'm really liking the design more now. While it'd not everyone's cup of tea having KCIII one their money, well its personal choice.
  13. As per the same question in the gold topic, yes.
  14. If they sell as slow as you are saying they are, I would hope my next box of rice crispness comes with them, I do remember packets of crisps and you would find a square pack (not the salt n shake variety) and they would have up to £20 in cash money or vouchers for free crisps. I remember getting a multipack with 3 packs all with £20 notes inside when I was at school. Obviously the mint won't even be able to give them away. Too much, over dhuch a short time span I still have money to spend on coins but only gold and silver and not in 50p form. Also the mintages are way too high, unless they put them into circulation as regular CuNi with low mintages still they won't do well as the silver proof coins have a high mintage.
  15. Yes, as its relatively cheap even if you think around $2k or £1600 is expensive it's actually really cheap. Plus I feel gold price usd is on the way up, gold per oz in £'s I expect to follow on upwards after gold in dollars makes its move. Here was the gold price as per yesterday. To me even though the price had been going down the past few weeks, it's Outlook in terms of trajectory is upwards.
  16. I recognise this photo from a certain FB group I'm in. 😀
  17. It would be a total bummer to start getting spots on 9999 fine gold, even if its not milk spots getting copper spots on the highest level of purity gold can get (unless you consider 99999 fine gold not the same due to all it is is a recurring decimal figure and you could put as many 9's as possible but it still won't be 100%) still it's possible to get spots
  18. Its bullion, don't expect perfection as these are not high premium coins. They are struck once and many will be struck until the 2024 design comes out. If it was a proof or Brilliant Uncirculated coin then I would be returning expecting the higher quality finish. But its bought for one reason only, to be gold for use as storage of wealth to hedge inflation or use as your personal bank to avoid taxation. I would just keep it as the purpose is to stack them and not collect them. You can buy another compared to buying a proof coin and maybe the other will be of a better quality.
  19. Having a matte bunc 5 sovereign in my collection and looking at the matte proof, I can't really tell the difference in appearance. I know the minting if it is using a proof die with the planchet already in the matte finish but it really is so hard to tell the difference that I can't identify which would be which if there was a matte proof 5 sovereign released. The only way I would know is the fact its stated so on the COA. Otherwise nice coin in the photo, I have seen one other already but I think I would prefer a regular Proof the the mirror shine finish with Cameo.
  20. To go with my 2022 Proof Jubilee and Memorials, but intend to get some double proofs for both coronation and memorial.

    Cbdc arrival

They do this in CCP China for purchases in supermarkets using facial recognition tied to the cbdc. Klaus Schwaub head of the WEF was literally interviewed in his home with a bust of Lenin on a shelf in the background. Can't trust the guy, especially when such a quote as "you will own nothing, and be happy for it."
  22. That's why I'm not buying, I would have if they changed the design and made the series bigger, and not in 50p coins.
  23. I was talking to someone in a different group on Facebook, if this is accurate then I was bang on the money predicting 20k.
  24. Yet they have done so for the 1oz cypher and britannia bullion coins and openly stated they were limited mintage for a limited time availability and have openly stated the mintage on their site. They also openly stated the mintage for the James bond limited bullion bars a few years ago. So it's really up to them if they want to declare or not, but yes most of the time they won't declare. But I'm pretty sure mathematically it can be worked out depending on how many they can produce in a day to work out how many they make in a year based upon how many days the mint operates and produces coins.
  25. It exists, so far only three bullion retailers are known to be selling them. Bullionbypost and some German company that only delivers within Germany. Royal Mint has stated in an email they will not be selling them, they will not be releasing the mintage figures. So far it was known that 450 were delivered to Bullionbypost and they told me today that they have to ship them from their UK allocation they received to France to then post on to me for my purchase and same goes to their USA distribution office. The German company apparently received 20+ coins and so far no other retailer has been found selling them as they were only for wholesale dealers. If you find them for sale elsewhere then they would have been bought from the bigger dealers and sold onto to you. So that's ~470 coins to these two dealers, maybe more delivered in the coming days or weeks. But they are limited mintage (which is unknown) available for a limited time only (time available unknown - to me at least unless anyone else has any further information they can provide) I bought one, you can either buy one or pass and buy the oz or 1/10oz which both are limited with a known mintage. I got this one as it suited my budget. Alternatively you could buy a coronation britannia or a coronation bullion Sovereign...which there are plenty available for many more dealers and probably at better prices (compared to Bullionbypost) if you look around.
