I worked in an organisation that took quality control seriously.
Some contracts demanded tight QC on packaging and how items were protected for safe transit.
We were audited by the customer ( like the Ministry of Defence ) because when the customer required the part it had to be perfect and undamaged.
Cock-up on that and you would loose the contract and find it difficult to get back in as a supplier.

The reports regarding shoddy packing & packaging from the RM suggests they do not have an adequate QC system in place and with so many complaints I wonder if the management team are competent and it would suggest that the packers are not trained or supervised. The problems of packaging could be solved overnight.

If anyone has purchased an iPhone or similar the packaging is superb so someone at the RM needs to wake up.

I personally think the problem with the RM is how fractured they are as a company. I am under the impression that there are different branches that report to different levels and it simply doesnt work. They have proven they have the ability to be a world leader in coins and yet they go to the opposite end of the spectrum and produce some of the shoddiest stuff on the market. It wouldn't shock me if those different arms of the company had different QC controls.
