Gold Bullion Condition

Hi

i have a gold Britannia that I bought some while back and I keep this in my safe at home in a sealed plastic bag. I want to take good care of the coin as it’s important to me. My question is, will the coin always retain its gold value regardless of any damage it may sustain?

Thanks

Theoretically. However, when a bullion coin is damaged beyond a certain threshold it becomes less desirable, and it may be treated as scrap gold. Almost all dealers recycle scrap gold well below spot, and you can't really find a private individual who's willing to pay spot price for a very damaged coin instead of a brand new that js £50 more expensive

If we do the right thing this time, we might have to do the right thing again next time.

Just make sure it doesn't sustain any damage. Maybe put it into a capsule for extra protection.
