What are they worth?

Recommended Posts

I have been fortunate enough to have been offered 2 gold coins at a fraction above spot and I am inclined to believe they may actually be worth a little more then what I payed.

Would anyone be able to give an indication on their value please?

The first is an au55 cleaned $10 indian head and the second is a 1976 Hong Kong $1000 Lunar Dragon Proof with c.o.a and display box.

I have been collecting for 9 days now just to highlight where my ignorance stems from.TIA

I can only speak on the American one, spot price is £738ish I think, shame it’s been cleaned I would probably put the price around £760-£780 maybe, only problem you have is no one really wants cleaned coins, it’s been given a grade by anacs of au55, the two main grading company’s ngc and pcgs wouldn’t of given it a specific grade it would of been au details cleaned. If you paid around spot you won’t lose on either of them 👍 personally if I would of paid spot for it I would (safely) crack it out the slab and put in a nice black ringed airtite and keep, not a fan of anacs myself and I wouldn’t say the holder adds any value at this stage apart from showing it’s genuine, assuming it’s a real holder 🤣 as you can see it’s a bit of a mind field, this is just my opinion and not financial advice 👍 best of luck on your coin collecting journey.
