Pentax K5 - Macro lense recommendations

Hi

Wondering if anyone can recommend any reasonably priced macro lenses that are likely to pop up on the second hand market for a Pentax K5.

Also what is the best size to be looking for …

Thanks 👍

@Charliemouse 👍

Size?  As in focal length?

With a cropped sensor, I would go for 40-60mm ideally.  Good news is those are probably the cheapest range of focal lengths, because... physics.

The smaller sensor on your camera effectively means you are more 'zoomed in' for the same focal length lens.  For macro, if you choose a longer lens, it means being further away from the subject to fit it in the frame, which makes it more awkward to photograph.

I will get back to you on the K-Mount lenses, but please know I don't have any personal experience with Pentax cameras.

I'm sure someone on here will.

Thanks dude, yeah I meant focal length ... not really that knowledgeable when it comes to photography.  I used to use the Pentax a lot when I first got it, now looking forward to re-reading the manual to figure it all out again 🙃

Im sure i can find one on ebay in the length you suggest with the right mount.

No problem.

I will have a quick skim of reviews, but I recall there really aren't that many to choose from.

Please read my 'choosing a macro' guide, to know what to look for.

Not sure I'd trust eBay for second hand lenses.  There are some excellent trusted dealers online that do used gear.  Also MPB | Buy or Sell Used Cameras & Lenses specialise in this, and have a good rep (although currently they only have a 120mm macro, which I think would be quite cumbersome for coins).
